Also, my legs ache rather a lot. It would seem all the hack squats in the world don't make up for the real thing. They help, they help a lot, but they are no substitute for the real thing. Monday's volume came as a bigger shock than I expected after many singles in the pre-comp run-in.

120 x 3

Close grip, touch and go
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 8
90 x 8
90 x 8
The first four sets were easy peasy, but the last was a real grind. The tank emptied fast tonight.

Rear raise with dumbells, strict

12 x 8
14 x 8
16 x 8
18 x 8

And that will do, Handsome Jeff visited tonight which was a pleasure, no Oldham as girl number one is under the weather, so popped into the chippy on the way home, saw the guy who fitted the shower for me and told him about the boiler. "I can fix that" said he. He did to in all of thirty seconds. An airlock due to last night's shannanighans and all it needed was a reset. It has now had one so Fat Pete is warm and getting warmer.

I am exceptionally envious of your 200kg squat triples.
Nice work indeed.

I finished work for the holidays tonight, so to celebrate I perused a website, made a phone call and started the holidays with a bang. Happy days.

Not done stiff-legged deadlifts for as long as I can remember so very gently does it for starters, not many down tonight but there was always some-one there. It's the Adder christmas do tomorrow, some members will be out for many hours and will be awash with drink and some will be there of a few hours only and will not. Where there is a will there is a way. It will be rather spenedid either way. Not everyone who should will train Sunday.

Jump racing should be abolished !

Horses running round fields is desperately dull so we bet on it to make it interesting.

Horses over jumps generally have their knackers cut off so they cannot be bred from. No-one cuts the knackers off a good horse, they spend their lives shagging and making their owners wealthy. Ergo only bad horses go jumping. Good races that are not handicaps will either attract one good horse (and by good I mean less bad then the others rather than good per se) and frightens all the others off, or they attract very small fields.

This afternoon at Cheltenham, the premier British jumps course, is a very sorry state of affairs, saved only by one handicap.

This never happens on the flat.

I say again, abolish jump racing.

Thank you for your attention.

If you watch a horse jump a fence, it gets awfully close to the groin area and horses like having their bo***cks banged as much as you or I. Plus it stops them thinking about shagging and focuses their tiny brains on the matter in hand - jumping the chuffin' fence. Also it does not detract from the horse's value as one, it is worth nothing, and two no-one wants to breed from it anyway.

I know sod all about horse racing, so bear with me.

Are there no big money jump races (other than the National)? If there are, surely it'd be worth trying to breed line of good jumping horses.

If there aren't, feel free to tell me to shut the phuck up.

There are, but in both flat and jumps there is little to be made from running a horse in races and winning them.

If a horse wins high class races it then goes to stud and charges fifty grand per shag or more (assuming it's fertility rating is high enough) and it does that every other day for the next ten years or so.

If it's children are successful, the price per shag goes even higher. Now fifty grand per shag for 180 shags is 9 million, for ten years is 90 million. It's a rare horse that can win more than a couple of million in prize money, so it's shagging where the real money is.

It is what it is and the people who could change things have no inclination to as their pockets are full and getting fuller.

So surely there'd be money to be made from a quality jump horse stallion?

How would you find one ? Stallions don't jump and jumpers aren't stallions.

The Adlington night out was an interesting affair, some drank heavily, some moderately and some not at all, some ate much, some modestly and some very little. Some were loud, some foolish and some behaved rather well all things considered. Names will not be named as that would not be fair and I have very possibly over-rated my own performance. It was a lot of fun and I was home well in time for match of the day. I predict another next year.

No training today as it would appear that tandoori chicken mixed with diet coke and falling asleep in front of the TV makes your shoulders ache.

I am off to r kids for nosebag this afternoon, slow-roasted pork and peppers the invitation text said. I am unsure what difference the speed of roasting makes but it sure sounds good.
