Somebody squatting every day for the past 49 days hardly negates the progressive programme of training he has done before hand for many many many years In fact this success to me is the strongest argument that in fact his previous training was working Again I would be extremely hesitant to make any conclusions when we consider all factors instead of the ones we wish to promote for our own reason I like how AMH _Power is enjoying the fresh, new and intense challenge that he is taking on and really is giving it is best shot... For me personally that is a large contributory factor to his current successes I may have a differing view than this to others I understand that... I see so many training programs work so well for very different people and I think we all should try new things if only for the experience itself | ||

Absolutely agree. However, if 95% of potential gains came from 1-2 sessions a week, OR, 99% of potential gains came from 7 sessions a week... I would still do the 7 sessions. | ||

Or me adding more on my squat in 6 weeks than a year of standard models, despite being well driven and fully commited to the cause? If the former, why so? Is it from injury risk etc? As right now, I'm the strongest I've ever been, and as far as back/knee/hips feel.... they feel immense. Never get sore, (other than initial 20 days), old tender spots have completely gone, even walking feels more natural to how it used to. I'm lighter, more flexible and just generally better all round. I think we need to lose anecdotes and preconceived misconceptions on what will happen if we push the boundaries, and experience it for ourselves. | ||

I have squatted for thirty five years now and generally made good progress, the times when progress stopped were when recovery time was insufficient and the solution was always to extend periods between sessions to increase recovery time. This solution always worked and normal service was resumed. There is one other fellow on here who squats many times a week and he frequently writes in his log that he felt rough or he ached or had trouble putting his socks on, his progression was good but he suffered for it. I was (and still am) convinced that he was squatting his way into a wheelchair. This saddened me. But everything in this life has a price attached, sometimes that price is very high. In this case much higher than I am prepared to pay, but others make their own choices. I saw a video of you successfully squatting I think 260, and a very nice squat it was too, it mentioned then that you were squatting every day. I was amazed and dismayed, so I instantly went to your log. Sadly it would seem that around the time you started on this very interesting phase of your training, you stopped making entries in your log. So I could not follow with interest nor could I see exactly what you were doing in the weight / sets / reps department. I just have the vague and blanket phrase "max squats every day" to work with. I have spoken with knowledgeable men, medical men, who are appalled and aghast at the prospect of maximal workouts with minimal recovery. They have no ax to grind. Some of them lift and some do not, it doesn't matter. They all speak with one voice. Rest is essential I am old, exactly twice your age, that makes a difference. Old dogs and new tricks and all that. Last year I got my arse handed to me on a plate at the British by a very tall Welshman. I changed my routine to extended rest periods, and it has worked. Next March I intend handing it back. I wish you good luck and good health but what you say you do flies in the face of everything I have ever experienced or have been told. Will I try it ? Will I hell. I don't have to try to place a whole house brick in my mouth to know it won't fit. And I know this won't work for me. If it works for and you feel better than ever - good luck to you, but I would ask you to start that log up again. I am more interested in this than I have been in anything that I can remember. Sooner or later all debts have to be settled. I borrow a little and pay it back over the next few days. You seem to have a different tack in mind. I hope the debt does not become too much for you to bear. Every instinct I have is that what you are doing is madness and that it will all in tears, all of them yours. I sincerely hope I am wrong. But I cannot let these things go without saying something, my conscience won't let me. I have said my piece, I will now shut up. As I said before - good luck and good health and happy squatting.
