Paused bench 85x5 85x5 85x5 85x5 85x5 all easy HB squats - belted 110x2 110x2 110x2 110x2 110x2 110x2 all nice and fast SLDLs - beltless 120x5 easy DB Rows 40x10 40x10 Then some snatch work with the bar, seeing as how I missed this week's snatch session. | ||

Was aching quite a bit after yesterday surprisingly. Cleans - jerk after last rep 82.5x2 82.5x2 failed jerk! 82.5x2 82.5x2 82.5x2 Snatch Pulls 70x5 70x5 70x5 good, so tiring though Press - from dead stop 62.5x3 failed 4th, lost balance at top of 3rd and it sapped my energy. Annoying 50x9 Conventional deads - beltless 150x5 pretty easy, back straight for all reps. Ok session. Cleans had a couple of sloppy reps but to be expected after not training them for two weeks. Jerks were terrible, hard to get stable. Really shouldn't be a problem at this weight! Pressing was a bit crap, gonna blame it on bench volume yesterday Pleased with the deads though. The set took a while as I was changing my grip between DOH, mixed and hook in between reps to see which was best. Mixed felt horrible, been ages since I used it. | ||

Paused bench 80x2 80x2 80x2 80x2 80x2 80x2 80x2 80x2 felt very heavy in the hands, but sets got faster as I progressed Incline DB press 35x10 was told to slow the movement down a bit, increase ROM, and tuck elbows a bit more. Made it a lot harder 35x5 35x5 DB Rows 40x11 40x11 | ||

Snatches 60/ 1, 1 63/ 1, 1 63/ 1, 1 63/ 1, 1 63/ 1, x Jerks - belted, trying it out 86/ 1 86/ 1 86/ 1 86/ 1 86/ 1 86/ 1 86/ 1 Really happy with that session, felt a bit faster under the bar today. I think the sheer possibility that I might make all my reps was what made me miss that final snatch lol. There was one dodgy rep on the jerks where I had to chase it a bit, but overall good. I need to remember to dip lower than I am currently, not generating enough power as it stands, but the latter reps felt very good. Belt helped me feel a bit more secure I think, especially lowering the bar back to my shoulders! | ||

Line went a bit funny on one of the reps in second set and my front delts/shoulders were really sore after that. Didn't hinder the successive sets too much and thankfully feels fine today. | ||

Too sloppy!! Snatch pulls 60x3 60x3 70x5 70x5 70x5 Was told they were good overall but I wasn't rebending my knees much (or at all), so something to work on. Also bending my arms a bit too early on first set! Jerk balances 57x5 57x5 57x5 57x5 57x5 last two sets were crap. Otherwise not bad. Was splitting too wide laterally at first so was told to bring my feet into more of a straight line. Worked better after correcting this. Conventional deads - beltless 160x4 comfortable enough again, upper back feeling the strain a bit on last rep so really fought to keep it straight. Speed was good though. Was messing about with grip too much. DOH for first 2 reps, hook grip for 3rd rep (painful!), mixed grip for final rep. I'm trying to avoid mixed grip as much as possible as I think that has caused my spine to get out of alignment over the years. Press - from dead stop 50x3 55x2 60x1 65x1 PB 67.5xf 67.5x1 PB Did TnG from here as I was knackered. 50x9 50x5 lol 50x5 Dead. | ||

Paused bench 82.5x2 82.5x2 82.5x2 82.5x2 82.5x2 82.5x2 slow negatives on all these. Explosive. Incline DB press - dropped weight from last week, slowed negatives right down, increased ROM 25x5 27.5x10 27.5x8 27.5x9 not sure how I got the extra rep here DB rows 42.5x10 42.5x10 42.5x10 Happy with that session. Expecting some serious chest DOMS to come my way. | ||

Ended up being a disaster. Snatch Failed a rep on 50 during the warmups... 56/ 1, 1 56/ 1, 1 chased this second one all round the platform :S 56/ 1, x Giles told me to used my legs more in the power position. Tried it and failed the rep behind but he said it still looked better than the first one. Was supposed to leave it there but wanted to do one last set. 56/ 1, 1 meh, not comfortable. C&J 76/ 1, 1 76/ 1, 1 76/ 1, 1 terrible. Got all the reps but there wasn't a single clean in there that I was happy with. Jerks a mixed bag, something was wrong with my right shoulder which made it difficult (but not painful) to lock out. Front squats - beltless 85x3 85x3 85x3 A lot lot harder than they should've been. Hard to get into position and left knee was hurting for some reason. Don't know why it's taking me so long to get my strength back up on these. Press Warmed up but my shoulder was feeling f*cked, same problem as the jerk. Not a clue why... All in all, pretty s**te session. I'll be lucky to even match my PBs if I have another day like this on Saturday. Got a takeaway on the way home as some sort of consolation but that ended up tasting like crap as well lol. Feeling burned out today. | ||

Snatch Warmed up and failed 60 twice in a row which was pretty worrying! 70/ 1 75/ f lost it behind 75/ 1 PB! 80/ f so close! lost it behind. Giles told me to leave it there as my elbow had strained a bit in the receive. Nothing major at all though. CJ Jerks felt good today, cleans were going a bit crap in the warmups though. 80/ 1 90/ 1 97/ 1 post-catabolic-holiday PB clean was terrible though, really rounded upper back on receive. Jerk pretty good though. 105/ f clean. Got it high just couldn't get under it! 105/ f clean 105/ f clean argh! no PB C&J today. Conventional deads - beltless 170x3 harder than last week. DOH grip, hook, then mixed grip for the three reps. Press - dead stop 65x1 50x8 switched to tng here 50x8 50x4 shoulder lockout issue so had to leave it there. | ||
