Member 6318, 16 posts | Considering I've been benching for 6 months is kind of a good start and of course I'll keep training my raw bench as I always do, especially because that would take a lot of weight to touch the chest with a multiply shirt. Didn't really want to use it now but considering that equipped lifting is what I like, might as well get as much infos as possible. But thanks everyone for the advice

But thanks everyone for the advice If you've not been training bench very long I'd definitely go with a loose fit single ply shirt. Rage x / f6 or fury or the metal m shirt. If you be not tried it you might not like it. It's an acquired taste!!

‘downsizing’ Member 5704, 3234 posts SQ 280, BP 210, DL 320810.0 kgs @ 96.3kgs UnEq | i agree - double ply will be an awful lot of shirt with a 120kg raw bench. i've seen Kalle take 300kg+ plus just to touch a 2 board in his at Ralls. (he holds uk all time record with 365kg multiply). if you've never tried shirt benching before i'd go for a loose, ipf-legal single ply (closed back), something you can both get into easily and touch with your raw max. you certainly don't want to be having to take 180kg+ to touch as you will simply not have the triceps strength atm to press that weight out and you'll end up getting injured or frustrated with lack of progress.

I have 42" chest and 15-16" arms should I look for a size 44?

Thanks buddy Most of my max efforts are generally variations that help to strengthen my triceps (floor press, close grip, 3-2boards) cause they are definitely my weakest. Single ply sounds great!

I'd look out for a 42 or 44 f6 second hand and see how it goes. You'll progress through the f6 quite quickly if you're progressing quickly and focussing on moving to multiply. That said a tight super katana isn't a million miles away in terms of carry over to a multiply shirt!

I sold the katana and the rage-x is too nostalgic to let go. Will you settle for an open back EHPHD?

Never heard about an open back blast, how do you compare it with an f6?

I thought that was more of a multiply shirt number Yeah it's not common but it's achievable. A few of the very best get even more than that. Don't expect to get a lot put of one at first though!! Some of the better single ply shirts aren't that far behind some of the multiply ones, maybe 10 percent overall weight.

Some of the better single ply shirts aren't that far behind some of the multiply ones, maybe 10 percent overall weight. So how would you train? Like a raw "off season" phase with lots of lock out training and then start to use the shirt like a month before working with boards etc? At the moment my max efforts are all close or medium grip: Incline pin presses Floor presses Close grip bench 3 boards and 2 boards with close grip I rotate this variations every week trying to add 2.5 kg everytime On Friday I do 50% + double blue bands 3 reps adding volume every week The rest is just heavy dumbbell work for chest, shoulders, triceps, lats, upper back and legs. The idea would be to start to use the shirt one or two months before a training or comp max.
