Thats better, we want heavy stuff, not light cario work
AvatarWigan
I'll have a go at this one Tony, as long as it fits in with anything else i might have on. Could be a hoot!!!

300kg connans wheel

where the f**k are we going to get one of them lol

I reckon the best thing to do would be to have say 3 different weights for each event but use the '1 rep with the heavier weight beats all with the lighter weight' system rather than have 3 different competitions. that way the novices can compete alongside the intermediates and the intermediates alongside the opens. what do you reckon?

my idea for events (providing the kit will be available):

log press:

90kg/105kg/120kg for reps in 75secs

18" deadlift for max rising bar

farmers:

90kg/110kg/130kg for distance

yoke:

250kg/300kg/380kg for speed

stones over yoke:

100kg/130kg/160kg

nice and simple, not much setting up needed, all the core strongman events there for novices to try. any thoughts?

well it would be around 180 to 220 in the arm
AvatarWILLSAN

I AM PROVISIONALLY UP FOR THIS MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO SET A DATE!
AvatarCarl
i like the idea of the 3 diff weights for everything, and everyone can choose whatever weight they want on each event, but 1 rep at the highest weight beats any number of reps of the weight below

would be up for this subject to date etc
AvatarJoni
i think that three tier system could work. You could also sometimes pic the heaviest, sometimes the second heaviest and so on. There are so many beasts on this forum and many novice level guys as well that this could really work and get a nice comp together.

How would it work on the farmers and yoke? Any distance with heavier would win the fastest lighter weight? Or just do some kind of double time/distance thing for heavier stuff?

if this is befoe april 2009 i'll volunteer to do the reffing Grin

I'd quite fancy a pop at this what ever the weights are. Give me a chance to show how truly weak I am Roll-Eyes

what a bout a connans walk with a yoke set really low
AvatarCuddles
Sounds like a lot of fun guys.

Tony. did you have an idea of when you might want it to be? I think at the start of the season could give a lot of the actual strongman a good comp to get themselves in shape for.
AvatarWILLSAN
I think preseason is a good idea.
AvatarSparrow
I agree - comp season gets very cluttered pretty quickly, unless you are me and too soft to compete. So pre-season would be a good way of getting into 'contest shape'.

Tony - I have a log, farmers, yoke, stones (105kg, 130kg, 140kg and 150kg), axle and a few other bits and pieces, but like Ste said I think it's best to stick with the 'core events' which he covered. Got to include:

A press e.g. log or axle
A deadlift e.g. standard or 18"
A moving event/medley e.g. yoke, farmers, carry and drag etc.
A grip event e.g. farmers, farmers hold
A loading event e.g. stones!

So many events, the options are endless.

I like the idea of the 2-3 tier system as it lets everyone compete together.

Let's throw a date up in the air and see what everyone thinks. How about sometime late February or early March?

The 3 tier system is along the lines of what I was thinking off. Running separate comps or categories would be a f**king ball ache imo.

I'm with Will and Mills on the events

log press 80,100,120

deadlift for max rising bar

farmers, 100,120,140

yoke, f**k knows weight wise on yoke as I've never done it.

stones over yoke 100,120,140

The above should be nice and simple to set up and acquire the equipment for.

As for date is February the month of choice? If so I'll mail Cleggy to see which dates would suit.
