Surprised this hasn't got a thread yet, the events are..

Event 1: The Heavy Squat-Using a Barbell
Rising bar system. Each athlete will have three attempts to establish their max weight. New event for Arnold Strongman Classic.

Event 2: Monster Dumbbell Press for Reps with 275 pounds
Dumbbell taken from floor to overhead for repetitions in 90 seconds.

Saturday, March 5

Event 3: Austrian Oak for Max
Rising bar system. Each athlete will have three attempts to establish their max weight. Starting log weight TBD.

Event 4: Timber Carry
Carry the 880-pound Timber frame up a 35-foot ramp. Straps not permitted. Time Cap: 30 seconds.

Event 5: Stone to Shoulder
With Odd Haugen's Stone. Lift Odd Haugen's famous "tombstone" from the ground to a stationary position on top of the shoulder for as many reps as possible. Tacky not permitted; tacky towels provided. Time Cap: 2 1/2 minutes.

Novikov for the win for me

If Kieliszkowski is any better at squatting than deadlifting it should be his to lose
AvatarEDCLARKE
be interesting to see how much they can squat rather than deadlift for once .

He's not done max squat according to strongman archive. I don't fancy him on max log either. He looked understandably nervous pressing in competition this year. Licis for me. Would like to see Caron win squat.

Pretty good events for Luke S, too! But hard one to call. I think probably Licis, Kiels, Novi in that order.

Interested to see what the squat set up is like. Hope its not like powerlifting with the lifter surrounded by spotters (not strongman-y at all) but wonder what they'll do instead?

Any chance they'll use something similar as WSM squats for reps (squat down to pads/safeties)? Takes care of lifter safety and judging. PLers will say it's not a real squat, but even if they do it PL-style I'm afraid it will be like those US mini-feds with very questionable depth. Might as well do something distinctive and strongmanny.

Kearney is training in briefs. If they allow suits/briefs I'd rather them not bother. Anyone heard anything about the kit?

There will be powerlifting (IPF) at the Arnolds again in 2022.

They seem to be saying barbell squat on the Instagram.
Rogue make a monolift, so could be a simple powerlifting setup adjusted for height. Arnie used to do powerlifting so I've faith he won't want to see people do 1/4 squats.
Interesting Shaw is out. I wonder was he invited after his YouTube rant about Arnold's fcuk your (Covid) freedoms comment.
I'd have like to see an in shape Z and Hicks at this with squats and log maxes.

Suit and wraps is s**t for strongman. Should just be belt and knee sleeves. So should powerlifting.

Arnolds is usually no suit on deads. Can't see them allowing for squat. Not even tacky allowed on stones.
