how would you do it?

small increments (5kg max) and lots of singles. or bigger jumps.

I find my technique is better with lots of smaller increments but do feel I am tirung myself out and worry misses at top end are actually avoidable?

Usually I have an "opener" as a prescribed weight that is &rt;90% and work on increasing the opener each week... I work up in 10kgs to something comfortable and then go up in 5s. But then again it depends how strong you are, my PB C&J is 112kg and I usually start at 50/60kg so it only takes me 6 or 7 lifts to get to my max. I can imagine people who are stronger to take bigger jumps.

I do same as dill really.

Start at 60 ish (after warming up) and don't move up from a weight till it feels sharp. Then I tend to go 80/90/100/110/120 then opener really. Normally low 130s

I think as a general rule, lessen the jumps as you get closer to the max.

Ok makes sense

To give you an idea on Wednesday I am meant to hit 110-115kg as a max for a single from the plan I have

On Friday I was mean to do 102.5kg x2x2 but did 102.5kg x 2, 105kg x 2, then put on 110kg and missed it – now I know I shouldn’t have gone for it but I was feeling good and the 105kg was snappy.

As such for my max on Wednesday thinking

60kg x 2, 80kg x 2, 90kg x 2, 97.5kg x 2, 102.5kg x 1, 105kg x 1, 110kg x 1 and if it feels good go for a bonus set – does this look ok? – compared to strength exercises it’s amazing how a tiny increment of 2.5kg-5kg can feel so different on the quick lifts

If this was me, I'd go 2 singles at 60,80 and 90 instead of doubles. Then 95x1, 102.5 x 1, 110 x 1... if you feel great then go for it!!

I would personally take 107.5kg instead of 105kg as you have doubled that and then take it from there. Either 110 or 112.5kg. Better to make an extra lift than miss.

80kg x 1, 1
90kg x 1
100kg x 1
107.5kg x clean - nearly fainted so didn't jerk it
110kg x 1 clean only
