I see guys curling the axle all the time, I ask and they say it makes the forearms work harder?

not sure if legit because curls are for hermaphrodites

bench no idea, but using them for accessory stuff is a good way to get extra grip work without taking up more time or replacing anything

some people reckon the improvement with hand grip strength after benching with fat grips improves your bench when you get back to a normal sized bar

although i think thats bo***cks

For narrow bench personally I find it works my triceps harder than a standard bar.

ah the extra ROM makes sense. It cant really make it much harder to grip the bar during bench, considering that gravity is pushing the bar into your hand and not away from it, or does it?

At times I do tricep press with a 3" bar 82kg pounds attaching weights suspended from inner tube with weights attached up to 110kg. The thick grip and the unstableness attacks the muscle groups in a different way. I use safeties of course. Fat grips are another option from bordom. OK attack me now!

I've used them yeah. The reason for pressing is because a fatter grip involves more chest and less triceps, same with thinner grip for more triceps and less chest. Jay cutler mentions this in a vid where he's benching with them and doing dips with thin handles.

I find the complete opposite to that. for me, axle pressing involves the arms alot more whereas on an oly bar hits shoulders more for overhead and chest more for bench. axle is kinder on my wrists too.

Always found it to be true for dips, not really used fat grip for bench.

I don't rate the fat grips very highly for bench pressing.

I reckon they're more useful on the pulling movements.
