Home to beef curry and rice.
Weihrauch HW80 - not the karbine one. .22 cal
I usually go for the vitals, more room for error and squirrels also have pretty thick skulls. I'd much rather go for a clean shot with a decent gun than a risky one with a pants gun. Can follow up with a point blank headshot with a lesser powered handgun, which I always run out with just to make sure anything I shoot is dead asap.
If lil fluffy is facing me and showing its belly, then definitely going for the vitals. To get a heart shot on one is next to impossible as they move about far too much, plus Any wind deviation means you won't hit the heart. Worst case scenario, even for a good shot, is a hit in the vitals - about 2 inch radius. The heart is maybe half an inch big.

Nice, I recently go myself a HW97k, still trying to find somwhere decent to go shooting regularly.

When they first took out the HW80, they had to de-tune it to under 12ft/lbs as the standard ones were a bit too powerful.

What calibre is the 97? Where are you based?

.22 and I'm in York. Theres a 10m club here which doesn't really appeal to me but I was thinking of seeing if the rifle range will let me use it down there.

When I used to shoot, I had my HW80 tested and it was slightly over the limit. Great piece of kit!

I remember you saying you had one when you were younger. I love heavier pellets, so mine is most likely over the limit. Great thing with a Weihrauch is that they NEVER lose their power due to old age, only negligence.

I've not used it for years. I'm saving it for when my kids are old enough to use it. The oldest of the two is 4 now, so he's nearly ready! Wink
