| Neither vertical or touching the bar works best for me. A lot of tutorials take an outdated one size fits all approach to technique. It'll work amazingly for someone and be less effective or even completely wrong for everyone else. | |||

| He's not a cheater. The issue I have here isn't with Brian, nor is it with strongman deadlifts being performed on strange apparatus. Hummer tire deadlift is cool, silver dollar deadlift is cool. What doesn't sit well with me is the fact that at the Arnold's this year, someone has in my opinion, purposefully set out to be deceptive by making a strange apparatus deadlift setup that allows more weight to be lifted, while trying to disguise it as best as possible as being a regular deadlift from the floor, by using regular plates and setting a barbell up on the floor. Usually there is a very obvious visual distinction between these weird strongman deadlifts and what we all consider a "legit 1000lb deadlift". This won't be the case after next weekend and will be the cause of a lot of confusion and arguments. | |||
