Missed out a few days logging, nothing major happened - just the usual and some technique work. Speed bench today went well.

Heavy Bench Day

After working out my ideal grip, i dont have a clue what my current max is, allthough i think its about 107.5-110. Today's session went very well, did a heavy single followed by some sets - single was a PB but in no way was it a max, it flew up really fast and there is defo a lot more there. 90kg was also a PB triple, and again theres a little bit more in that too.

1 x 1 102.5kg PB
3 x 3 90kg

3-board bench, but i have completely forgotton what i used.

CG Bench
3 x 10 60kg

Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Press
1 x 5 28kg - Stopped these as something in my shoulder started to feel not good and i didnt want to make it worse, allthough it feels fine now.

Rear Delt Cable Flyes
3 x 10 6kg

Thanks guys, I have been working my bench technique a bit over the past few weeks and I have found that a slightly closer grip actually gives me a lot more power through the whole press than a wide grip, I think 110kg will be there soon enough.

Great session, close grip bench is a lot stronger than i expected it to be - the double at 90kg flew up and i could've got a few more reps out there easilly, and the 100 came up easilly too.

Squat Day

Still working on technique here, i start to rush the heavy set and my technique suffers - will make an effort next week to leave a few seconds before each rep and do them properly and i think it will help a lot.

I have read through all the posts and i am sticking to my current routine (i do 2 bench days a week, not just one - so theres quite a lot of support exercises within the week) Training bench like i am doing has helped me out a lot in the past few weeks and i am making faster progress than i was doing before - if it aint broke, why fix it.

Aldi tuna isnt that bad, allthough tesco allways has some decent stuff on offer and for about 5-10p more a can its worth it. I bought loads of John West stuff for about £2.40 / 4pack when aldi stuff is like 55p a can...

Happy with the board presses, havent done them for a long time and 110kg would'be been a PB for a single. More coming in the next few weeks i hope!

Weights room was closed due to exams so i ended up using this.

Thanks for the advice, i am adding quite a lot more assistance in to my workouts at the moment.

Back training properly after christmas. I have done some sessions over xmas but nothing worth mentioning, just working on technique and speed mainly. First proper session back went well, allthough it was rushed as the gym was closing early due to exams.

As with all xbox stuff, they make sure you cant use anyone elses stuff so they can scam you out of more money. Their wireless adaptor is something like £30+ and you cant just use a standard one... bas***ds!

Get some reps in around the 5 rep mark to cement your technique and come back to maxes in 5 weeks. your CNS will be taking a battering. and also you NEED to do assistance work.


Was planning to do 3x5 or something like that next week in all lifts, working up to singles in the 3rd week of january. I normally try to do more assisatnce work, but i felt really stiff and dead today so i left it - i probably shouldnt be doing much the week after a competition anyway tbh.

Back training light after the mini comp on saturday, rest week was the most boring thing i think i have ever done in my life.

Comp went well, missed my heavy squat but its in me soon i'm sure, i just need some time to get used to squatting in the ER rack and not the power cage - i found it much harder to get my footing right without the struts at my side to judge it on. I guess its just one of those things and after using the ER rack a few times i will get used to it.

Results:

Total = 442.5

I am sure i could've got the 155 squat if my feet where in the right place, the 132.5 was just a huge cockup. Last bench and deadlift where quite easy, another 5kg on deadlift was in me on the day i think.

Felt really sore and acheing after this so decided to leave it at that for today. new beltless PB was slow but it went up in the end so i was quite happy.
