Places down in Devon seem to be £4-5 per session or ~£25 a month. I thought this was about average all over the country, allthough none of the places i have been to have strongman equipment - just the standard stuff.

Some nice training this week man, hows the leg doing?
» Toby's training log (Go to post)14-06-2010 @ 15:20
Another session today, it went quite well. My arm feels really good now, but its still a little bit weaker than normal. Manged to get a lot of volume in on bench as well as some heavyish sets so i am happy. Deads and bench today, with some assistnace work too:

Deadlifts
1 x 10 70kg
1 x 5 120kg
1 x 3 160kg
1 x 2 180kg
1 x 2 200kg belt on, held last rep at top for 20 seconds
5 x 3 120kg focussing on explosive speed off the floor and hip drive

Bench
1 x 10 20kg
1 x 10 40kg
1 x 5 60kg
2 x 3 80kg
2 x 2 95kg
2 x 6 70kg
2 x 6 65kg
2 x 6 60kg

Tate Press
2 x 10 22.5kg

Reverse Grip Pulldowns
2 x 10 80kg

Rear Delt Flyes
2 x 10 10kg

Dumbbell Rows
1 x 10 50kg (per arm)

Quite happy with this session to say i spent about an hour last night spewing my guts out and with a stomach cramp (f**k knows what was wrong but its gone now)

Ross_Harkins said:Sorry to hear about your comp, prob opened to close to your limit on the bench, well done on the squat and dead pb's though!

What now are you going back to Devon for good...how did your final exams go?

Yeah i now think i could get 145-150 to touch and it woulda been a little bit safer, but its all experiance and i am not really bothered about it now. The squat and deadlift went ok, but i got very little sleep the night before and it showed on the day.

Final exams are over, they went ok, i am in Devon now until i can find a job!

SuperSteel101 said:You gonna hit up some more shieko then? (Reason I ask is the benching looks very shiekoesque lol).

I just threw the shieko-ish bit at the end to add some volume after the main bit, i used varying grips for it all and it went quite well. It was all really easy apart from the triple where my tricep felt a bit strange on the third rep, i am sure it will be fine next week.

Was in town today so i decided to go to the gym, didnt do anything overly heavy, planning to start a new routine next week.

Squats
1 x 10 20kg
1 x 5 60kg
1 x 5 80kg
1 x 3 100kg
1 x 2 120kg
3 x 3 140kg (belt on)
1 x 1 150kg (wasnt planning to do this but it flew up really fast)

Bench
1 x 10 20kg
1 x 5 40kg
1 x 5 60kg
2 x 5 80kg
1 x 3 100kg (pb triple)
1 x 4 80kg
1 x 6 70kg
1 x 8 60kg
1 x 10 55kg
1 x 12 50kg

Finished off with some rear delts, rotator cuffs, core work and general stretching

My right tricep and quad have been a little bit stiff since the competition, they feel loads better after doing this. Hopefully i will be fine for next week when i start training properly again!

the only thing i get is "powerlifting? isnt that the one where you put it over your head?"

I just gave up after a while and agree with them...

Duncan said:Did you fail the benches or were they too low or not touch etc?..

They all touched, the first one my shoulder slipped a wee bit and i lose the line completely, the second one i cant remember what happened and the third one i touched about an inch above where i normally do, so it threw the weight off backwards towards the rack.

Quite bad luck tbh, i have hit it once in the gym fine and off ~1board a few times, and i got a 140 really close to touch in the warmup (apparently it actually touched but i didnt feel it at all) so went in for something i know i could press in it quite confident.

Been busy for a few days since the competition, with moving all of my stuff back down to Devon and doing loads of other crap, finally got around to updating this!

The competition didnt go quite as planned, failed all 3 attempts on the bench. It was working quite well in the gym and the warmups seemed to go perfectly, just the attempts all went slightly wrong... I know i am strong enough to press 160kg off a 1 board and 155kg off the chest in it - next time i guess! Its all good experiance anyway.

Squat
200 / 220 / 230

Bench
155 / 155 / 155

Deadlift
200 / 220 / 230

I am still sure that the 230kg squat is there, due to there only being 4 lifters it was very fast paced compared to my first competition and i am sure i woulda got it with a bit more recovery time and focus. As for the deadlift, i was just completely knackered when the final one came around - i know its there very soon! 220 squat and deadlift are both competition PB's and equal gym PBs.

Videos will be up soon.

I count the first in 2006 TPB movie, and countdown to liquor day in 2009.Confused

I have "Trailer Park Boys" (1999) "Trailer Park Boys The Movie" (2006) and "Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day" (2009).

Theres also 5 specials: "Cart Boy" (1995), "One Last Shot" (1998, IMPOSSIBLE to find), "Hearts of Dartmouth: Life of a Trailer Park Girl" (2005) and "The Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special" (2005) as well as the 7 seasons.

Loads of it is before the main seasons started and gives more of a backstory about the characters.

Another equipped bench session today, i cant remember all of my sets... All i know is i got a near touch at 145kg and then worked up to 5-6? singles at 152.5 / 155. One of them went well and got pressed, one touched low and the spotters took it, one didnt even touch because it came out of line right from the start.

What i can remember from today:

Bench
1 x 10 20kg
2 x 5 50kg
1 x 3 70kg
1 x 2 90kg
1 x 1 105kg
1 x 3? 125kg
1 x 1 145kg
1 or 2? x 1 152.5kg
3 or 4 x 1 at 155kg

I plan to lift in my shirt in the competition for sure now, hopefully getting that 600+kg total. My current equipped PB's add up to 595kg, there is definately more in the squat and deadlift to make it up!

Theres three of them now man, they are all great - as the show is! Not many people over here seem to know about it tho...

As for my favourite films i would have to say The Big Lebowski, Clerks I/II and Let The Right One In.

Wiegieboard said:170 touch!
f**k yeaaahhh.
That's a lot of weight man!

Aye it was nice to finally get it, allthough no chance in pressing 170 right now... allthough 160 is there.

Todays deadlifting session, put the suit on early in hope of getting some idea of how the light weights feel in it for openers - everything went up really fast and without hitches. I am feeling happy about deadlifting equipped at last, allthough i think the suit only gives me about 10kg - i suppose thats normal for a conventional style deadlift.

Deadlifts
1 x 5 60kg
1 x 5 100kg
1 x 3 130kg
1 x 1 160kg
1 x 1 180kg suit and belt on
1 x 1 210kg

3 x 5 100kg focussing on speed off the floor and hip drive.

Chest Supported Row
3 x 5 85kg

Reverse Grip Pulldowns
3 x 8 80kg

Equipped bench, persistance finally paid off with a touch today! I paused the 2 heavy shirtless benches incase i didnt get a touch with a reasonable weight, they are essentially unequipped openers. Triceps are f**ked today so the pressing wasnt that good after the 110kg, but with the week off i am confident benching equipped in the open.

Bench
2 x 10 20kg
1 x 5 50kg
1 x 3 70kg
1 x 1 90kg
1 x 1 100kg paused
1 x 1 110kg paused PB
1 x 3 120kg 3board shirt on
1 x 1 140kg 2board
1 x 1 160kg 1board - went down easy but couldnt press it as it came out of the line
1 x 1 160kg about 1/2" away from touch
1 x 1 170kg again, 1/2" away
1 x 1 170kg touch
1 x 1 160kg touch, pressed it half way but triceps are just destroyed right now and couldnt lock it out today.

Strict Press
3 x 5 60kg

Tate Press
3 x 10 20kg

did some light front raises and rotator cuff work at the end.
» Weight Gain (Go to post)24-05-2010 @ 20:54
Myprotein sells maltodextrin for next to nothing, and waxy maize starch cheep too. Most commercial weight gainers are just protein and maltodextrin - they can get away with calling it a complex carb (it technically is) allthough its essentially just sugar. Even the expensive weight gainers like monster mass are like 50% maltodextrin / WMS mix, 45% protein powder, and 5g flavourings and other stuff like EFA's and vitamins, that should be in your diet allready... It would work out way cheeper to just buy a big thing of carbs and throw some in with your regular shakes.
