Thanks for all the comments, guys!! Back to training. Squats 1 x 5 60kg 1 x 5 80kg 1 x 5 100kg 1 x 5 120kg 1 x 3 140kg belt on 1 x 2 160kg 80kg more than last time i squatted, not to IPF deapth (what will scottish powerlifting say, i might be thrown out of the federation!) Glute feeling much better. Bench Middle finger on ring 1 x 10 20kg 1 x 5 60kg 1 x 3 80kg 1 x 1 100kg 1 x 1 110kg 1 x 1 115kg 1 x 1 120kg - bit slow but felt great compared to my wide grip bench a few weeks ago. Guess all that heavy training helped. 1 x 1 115kg 1 x 1 112.5kg 1 x 1 110kg Incline Bench 1 x 5 50kg 1 x 5 70kg 1 x 5 80kg Finished off with some eccentric bench

BigKen said:I never said change it, just stating from my experiences of going to maxes and just up to singles for years at a time and then changing to a more rep based system I have had better results. You in Devon for the long haul now. voldomonkey; who said that there was only one training formula... Once it stops working for me i may well look into another training method. But for now, if it aint broke, why fix it? Yep, i am staying down here.

BigKen said:True, but IMO too much at 100% and just below is taxing the CNS too much, hence "failure due to fatigue" I thought you were a Scottish Powerlifting boy through and through like Steel... It seems to be working quite well for me, and a lot of guys i train with. we are all making great progress - why change it? And sadly scottish powerlifting dont have competitions down in Devon.

BigKen said:Lot's of red lately, and that 170k isn't legal is it, feet weren't flat on floor? Lots of reds, allthough most are borderline and due to fatigue - 120 was very close today, after doing 7 singles at 96% and another at 100% spotter just touched the bar at sticking point and it went up fine - i am quite happy with it. Just because it was a failed rep doesnt mean it wasnt valuble training, lowering it slow and controlled and pressing it to sticking point is also beneficial. Also lots of equal PBs and new PBs - still making great progress. Its not legal by IPF rules, but is in other federations that dont require feet to be flat on the ground - as long as they dont move around and your arse stays on the bench its generally fine.

» Metal black wrist wraps vs ATP convicts? (Go to post) | 29-08-2010 @ 22:12
I have the APT convicts and they are amazing, allthough the velcro started to come loose quite quickly - nothing that cant be fixed easilly and i prefer them to the metal blacks that i have used before. They are ultra stiff and give much better wrist support than anything else i have tried.

Post Edited: 24.08.2010 @ 11:22 AM by Toby Been away from a computer for a few days, heres saturdays sessionBench 1 x 10 20kg 1 x 10 40kg 1 x 5 70kg 1 x 2 90kg 1 x 1 100kg 1 x 1 110kg 1 x 1 115kg 1 x 1 125kg shirt on 3 board 1 x 1 135kg 2 board 1 x 1 145kg 1 board 1 x 1 155kg touch - fast and easy 1 x F 165kg about an inch (or less) from lockout, pissed off about this... Shirted 4 board 1 x 5 120kg 1 x 3 140kg 1 x 1 160kg 1 x 1 170kg 1 x 1 180kg With a little lockout work i think my shirted bench is going to increase quickly. I experimented with putting it on slightly differnetly and it paid off, much more speed off the chest and supports a bit higher in the movement, so hopefully a big PB coming in the next few weeks.
