I'll be competing in my first PL comp (GBPF uni champs) in November, you attending that one mate?

Paul

Cheers mate, from the looks of things your a very strong lifter yourself. I've actually followed your log for a wee while but only recently started posting, it's a great read.

Sadly I won't be competing at the comp in Nov, I live up in sunny Scotland and another trip back up to Bournemouth so soon is a bit much for me. Good luck for the comp though, I'm sure you'll really enjoy it!

Hi All

I met a few people off of here on Sunday at the GBPF Unequipped Powerlifting championships (Mike Smith, Brad Cutler and Paul Richards) and I figured I would start a journal of my own as I enjoy reading theirs alot.

I only started training for powerlifting properly not long ago this year and only have a measley 2 competitions under my belt so please try and bear with me and any advice would be greatly welcomed. Grin

Origionally I had planned to take a complete weeks rest this week as I was having problems with cramping muscles and as a result reduced strength at the comp on Sunday, but me be being dumb ass me I couldn't resist doing a session today when I went in to help one of my training partners prepare for an up coming comp.

It went a little like this ...

Bench Press
2 x 12 50 kgs
1 x 5 80 kgs
1 x 2 100 kgs
1 x 1 120 kgs
1 x 1 140 kgs
1 x 1 150 kgs

Floor Press
2 x 5 140 kgs
1 x 1 150 kgs

Seated Barbell Shoulder Press
1 x 4 90 kgs
1 x 5 90 kgs

One Arm Cable Pushdowns
1 x 12 (each side) 21 kgs
1 x 12 (each side) 21 kgs

Dumbell Hammer Curls
2 x 24 30's kgs

Overall I am pleased with this session today, I didn't go flat out as I think I need a little longer rest to reach full speed, but it was a good start to my next block of training.

I was very disappointed with my bench press and deadlift at the comp on Sunday, I failed 150 kgs on the bench which to be honest is a pretty easy weight for me these days so I tried it again today just to make sure it was a one off blip. I also failed a 245 kgs deadlift and again this should be a weight I hit reasonably comfortably so depending on how I feel fri or sat I might have a pop at a 250 just to get it out of my system.

Impressive lifting at the comp Brad, especially the deadlift! Good to meet you too.

Like I said I really enjoy reading your journal, keep up the good work lol. Might start one on here myself for a laugh.
