Fair play to him, he is strong as an ox and that is a massive snatch. I agree regarding his decisions about when/where/whether to compete - it doesn't make sense to me, but then again he should do what makes sense for him. Seems strange that isn't lifting for the USA as I'm sure the olympics would be a great experience for him regardless of where he placed.

RE: flexibility, a lot of people ignore the piriformus (which becomes an adductor when the knee is flexed past 90 degrees) and the adductors (some of which are also hip extensors - such as adductor magnus). For the piriformus I recommend using a hockey/lax ball on it ala defranco here: For the adductors, I also recommend using either the ball or a bar in the rack. Sit on the ball on a hard surface. Try not to sit directly down on it, but push it in from the side slightly. Then gently bend forward and back, 'gliding' the ball over the rear inner upper thigh. With a bar in a low rack you can attack it from the side slightly more if you straddle the bar, as seen here, if you watch to the end of the video:

Lol, I find doing some conditioning helps my lifting a lot. Not being from an oly background I get f**king knackered doing all that explosive s**t so having a bit more gas definitely helps!

Surely a lot depends on the make up of the person, the lowest I can get a bar without it falling off my back is about 1 inch lower than high bar for me. Probably wouldn't make f**k all difference to me in the long run. You would have thought that a weightlifter would have got a lot of posterior chain work from all of the weighted, explosive hip extension, that is required by the sport, this making quad and core strength the main goal of squatting?
