Nobody has actually made that suggestion in this thread. I thought Duncan was implying it, but he wasn't.

I know, that wasn't aimed at anybody I was jus' saying. In my personal experience the response to most injuries in the strength community is a mixture of man up and then add more supportive stuff.

Almost everyone has limitations in their hip/shoulder girdle mobility/function and their core/trunk strength. Nobody addresses these issues when they begin training, few do after that and many of those only do after they have sustained an injury. The answer of 'put a belt on' is f**king idiotic. Ignoring these major problems results in seriously compounding them with years of incorrect form and this can lead to you getting seriously f**ked in the long run. It is nowhere near as simple as 'strengthen your core' either. Without seeing somebody move its impossible to say. It could be an imbalance, a weakness somewhere, training structure/volume, technique on a given exercise etc etc.

On topic - sled drags and unilateral work are both excellent suggestions in my opinion. Depending on the nature of the injury a belt squat could be an alternative too.

He didnt stop, he failed. The last 5-10 were getting more and more wobbly and if memory serves he couldnt stand up with the 100th. You have got to be livid if you are that guy!

Your point being...?

Theres a video somewhere on a guy training at Jesse Marunde's place trying 100kg x 100 reps. I think he gets either 98 or 99 before stacking it. Still epic. This isn't bad either:

I'm pretty sure that Tsagaev and the Qatar Bulgarian both cleaned 240 in competition too.

Takes a decent stab at 240. Sick tune too...

Queensland and New South Wales. Youtube 'State of Origin', it is an annual 3 game series played between the two states in Aus. Its the best standard of rugby in the world. Makes lions tests pale in comparison.

If you want to see fighting, you want to watch the proper code:

I agree finding places to train can be a bit of a nightmare. At uni the gym has decent platforms and bumpers but only power bars that dont spin too well, at home I can get to a really good WL club, but they train 4 times a week and have nowhere to train the other days. Having your own place would be f**king sweet.

Everything is great here mate.
Thanks Dave, I will be doing it fulltime (5 days a week) in the summer for 6 weeks or so, but that's all I can really do with it at the moment, except squat and pull, work a bit on my overhead stability etc. Don't have a place to regularly train cleans, snatches, jerks (s**t bars, or can't drop weights etc), which is annoying but can't be helped for now. I can do some jerks once a week really, but I'm trying to get my shoulders strong (see above), so they are not a huge priority.

Badtimes. Can you not train any oly stuff at olympic?

Nice squatting mate. Planning on hitting any more oly stuff anytime?

Whilst I agree that acts such as this are completely intolerable and disgusting, I think it is all to easy for us to forget the huge amounts of stress these guys were under for extended periods and how little we still know about the long term effects of combat on soldiers. That said - reprehensible acts.
