I was thinking 150/120/200 on openers for 470 and just binning it. Is this a bad option?

I'd suggest planning attempts to make sure you get qualf on openers 9not yet done maths in my head) and then take solid 2nd and 3rd attempts keeping the load in check unless it just feels great and worth a pb shot I literally need 467.5, and I dont really feel like taking anything heavy at the moment to be honest. I ll rock up and smash my openers in, but im not expecting to take more than 3-6 lifts.

Billwest said:It's a good plan mate, and seems a realistic one too. The only thing i would say is that doing the Wendler system is that it is not really geared to adding heavy singles. Say for example in your first month and your training weight is 180kg or thereabouts. Say you lift 6 or 8 reps pretty much at 100% effort. Could you follow that with a maximum or near maximum single? If you can then you probably should have lifted more reps at 180kg. If you read the manual carefully mate, he recommends hitting the required reps and working up if you feel especially good, just dont do it too frequently.

Nice graph lol you going to stick to sumo? I find it f**king impossible to pull that way! When you work up after 5/3/1, as I said, work up on only 1 lift, once per month, bar you feeling awesome. Just my 2cents.

foam roll mobility deadlift 70kg x 3 70kg x 1 120kg x 1 160kg x 3 180kg x 3 200kg x 6 150kg x 3 box squat vs twice choked lights bar x 3 bar x 3 60kg x 3 80kg x 1 90kg x 3 90kg x 3 90kg x 3 90kg x 3 90kg x 3 Hanging leg raise 3 x 10 side bend vs 2 lights 3 x 10 curl with bar 3 x 10 videos of the 200 x 6 and a set of squats to come later. 200 x 7 is an all time PR so in my 2nd session back pulling 200 x 6 was pretty ****ing awesome. Last one was a grinder as you ll see but I still got it. Training is going well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ntXsVT1iNo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsAZh09bQjM

Yep just do the required reps for the top set and then work up to some heavier stuff that you are still confident of getting. For instance in my squat session last week my top set was 130kg. Pointless to smash out 10-15 reps on that weight, so I hit the required 5 and then went on to do 150 x 3 and 160 for a sub max single. Neither were max's but I felt they were more worthwhile than 130 x loads. Similarly, if you feel good on the day and feel like you could hit a weight PR, then why not hit the reps required and then go for it? Better to make use of a 'good' day to hit a heavy set or a new max, rather than go all out on a set of 10+ reps in my eyes. |
