Sparrow said:Mike - I'm working for a mate tomorrow now, and Wednesday is also not a definite for me now. Unhappy

Josh - Am I the only 103kg man you have ever met? Grin FAR stronger guys out there than me mate, I'm merely average - if that! I don't train sandbags at all really, but on the couple of occasions I've done them in training/comps I try not to over think the technique and just 'man handle' them. What's your next comp?

Thanks everyone else for the comments. Bolton's second strongest man is not a title I want to keep hold of! LOL On the other hand, there are 263,000 people in Bolton, so maybe it's not too bad...

strongman north cheshire 28th, wrist is in trainable state but not 100% strength back, hoping it will be fine by monday so that I can get a final stone and overhead axle & carry medley session.

stones loading

1st time lifting stones, used spider tacky, worked well was quite easy to get off using baby oil and a card and cloth.

110kg 10 reps total, found I couldnt do it with a belt as I have a very thick strengthshop belt, was too restrictive. height approx 5ft 5inch, arms bruised up will attempt to make sleeves.
» Training Events - is it really worth it? (Go to post)15-08-2011 @ 15:41
I think you have more potential to make more mistakes if you havent trained contest equipment, that said from cocking up in a comp 24hrs ago.

GOALS - get stronger/better and beat good names eventually

all my videos are on the "ainsygray" utube channel please subscribe www.youtube.com/user/ainsygray?feature=mhee

best event performances to date

deadlift -
great harwood 2013 open comp -
IFSA log c & p -
axle c & p-
farmers-

comp history -

Mo power local comp-1st place won two events placed 2nd on two, no pressing events: D-pound to power comp.

Bolton novice comp-placed joint 4th/5 only 3 events and deadlift too light made mistakes on 2, can’t judge who's the best strongman on 3 events.

Cheshire novice comp 28th august at Cheshire farm open weight 2011- PLACED 8/19 cocked up on a few events and placed in top 3 on 2 events deadlift & carry max distance found some weaknesses to work on.

uk strongman north novice- 13th may 2012 placed 11th out of 16, took just over two weeks before comp-went into it having only been training for a clean and press comp the week after, hit some pb’s in log and deadlift and stones so come away better than before, did this comp during in a bulking phase after illness + 13kg bodyweight after losing 8kg in 2wk so cardio wasn't their.

Crewe comp -15th July 2012 entered 24hrs before comp in the heavier weight class , placed 4th/6 , 300 deadlift pb 3rd place lol/fast truck pull/fast farmer+yoke medley-- overhead medley did poor on & loading +drag event took it steady as was goosed good bit of experience gained with previous poor events improved significantly, coming away with pb's again

only the strongest survive -2nd September, 2nd out of 5 best showing , pressing let me down as im on a long term plan that won’t yield much short term success ,still preferring to put all my pressing energy into strict press and cgbp, double decker truck pull was snappy the second go fell and still won it, Conan wheel was too light for me did 6 & a bit revolutions but was out of gas winner went last and did a couple steps more, medley was 1sec behind a phenomenal medley winner, did 5 reps on a 135kg stone large diameter so happy to have built competition stamina at last

great harwood- 27th may , 6 out of 12 , open class step up in overall weights
planned to be consistent throughout, grip and fitness was a strength, with a bit more luck on 1 event especially would have been top 5 , plenty pb's training for it as well and plenty more their to hit.

Bolton strongest man-27th July- 3rd place open class , 4 events dropped major points on 1st event press medley was well off form on overheads in the build up, performed well in the other 3 events but wasn't 100% ,at 100% would have done a lot better.

place of training-SV GYM owned by Bolton strongest man 2011 & 2012 Shane burns see sv Facebook page for any gym info, just off the top of lever street, 1st session is always free to try out the facilities, has rare strongman equipment such as conans / Viking press / fingal finger / anvils / 2 wide & long outside runs for outside event training

thanks for the belief man, your the strongest 103kg man Ive ever seen, retarded grip, I didnt have a technique for the bloody boulder shape sandbag and just wasted energy.

If I would of seen someone do it I would have been able to have a technique in mind, the diameter was just boggling, will be training stones at mo's for next comp on 28th so dont for see this being a weakness at all very soon.

needless to say im making a 110kg sandbag boulder shape to practise for next time.

considering you hadnt trained the sandbags you still did a very good time, the 100kg sandbag was a boulder basically,

you hadnt done much raw deadlifting so the car deadlift can be improved very fast in a short period of time.

phenominal technique on the farmers , took a wider bend around the cone-(no one else did) and had the grip strength to push it until you were out of energy.

hand over hand fantastic form, very fast back to the rope with full body extension.

pressing looked easy.

would donate but very poor at minute with about £10 in my bank account, best of luck to you, phenominal bodyweight pull, easily achievable transport target, contact some of the supplement companies, worth contacting companies like usn as they are trying to conquer the american market at moment and support their guys very well.
