Friday Bench - the no band day

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
50 for 8
60 for 6
70 for 5
80 for 4
90 for 3
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
127.7 for 1 - 2023 pb
112.5 for 3 x 3 sets
92.5 for 10 - just!
Finish

Brutal. Needed a ten minute break and some food after the 127.5, before I tackled the triples, but it all got done.

I may not be able to train next week. It's golf week up here, the highlight of the golfing year. If I do very well, I won't be able to train, if I do very badly I'll be able to train twice. Whatever, my fitness should improve, and at least I hit a year's pb going into it.

Yes, sometimes it happens, but if you are having more good than bad sessions, things must be looking up.

My 'good' sessions these days are much worse than my 'bad' sessions a year ago, but it is what it is and at least I'm getting stronger again. Happy

Wednesday Bench - Thick Red Band, adds 20 to 30 at lockout

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
Band on
Bar for 10
40 for 8
50 for 6
60 for 5
70 for 4
80 for 3
90 for 2
100 for 1
107.5 for 1 - not exactly easy, but maybe a wee bit more
92.5 for 3
92.5 for 3
92.5 for 4 - there was more than 3 there, so I took it
71.25 for 10 - forgot to add 1.25 on one side, felt it straight away, but kept going
Finish

Happy with that, but I'll be even happier if I can go beyond 125 on Friday.

More progress, Martin. Seems like you have a sound plan. Motivation would seem to be the key, and actually managing to find time to put in the work.

Thanks Bill, was feeling rough for months, finally seem to be on the mend, with resultant improvements in the gym. Happy

I've entered the Scottish Bench Press on 20th August. I need to do 130 raw, in order to qualify for the British Classic and Equipped Championships at the same time. Currently I'm just hitting 125 on a good day.

The plan is band sessions Monday and Wednesday, and band free on Friday. On each session, go up to a max single, drop 15 and do 3 x 3, then drop 20 more and do 10 or failure.

Today, thin red band, which adds 15 to 20 at lockout.

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
Band on
Bar for 8 x 3 sets
50 for 6
60 for 5
70 for 4
80 for 3
90 for 2
100 for 1
110 for 1
115 for 1 - 2023 pb
100 for 3 x 3 sets
80 for 10
Finish

Harder than usual, but fresh motivation, and needs must...

60 for 6
70 for 5
80 for 4
90 for 3
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
Finish

Epic leg workout yesterday. Four and a half hours in strong winds on an undulating golf links. Surprised I managed to train today, still a bit fatigued, but kept things sub maximal.

Wednesday Bench
Bar for 10 x 3 sets
50 for 8
60 for 6
70 for 5
80 for 4
90 for 3
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
110 for 3
100 for 5
90 for 8
Finish

Never quite on my limit, but never far away from it. Knackered now.

For complet6eness, didn't train today, life got in the way.

I never complain of the heat, especially when we get so little of it so far north, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't made things tough today.

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
50 for 8
60 for 6
70 for 5
80 for 4
90 for 3
100 for 2
110 for 1
120 for 1
125 for 1 - just
110 for 3
100 for 5
90 for 8
Finish.

Everything felt heavy, even the light warm ups. Thought I was done at 120, but I looked at the video and saw there was more there. Right on my limit though.

Wednesday Bench - Black Band Day, adds about 60 at lockout

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
Band on
30 for 5
40 for 4
50 for 3
60 for 2
70 for 1
82.5 for 1 - more progress
72.5 for 3
62.5 for 5
52.5 for 8
Finish

Hot, sweaty work, long rests, but got it all done. Probably more there on the single, but 2.5 improvement a fortnight, every time, will get me back to where I need to be soon enough.
