I'm sure its probably been done to death on here but can anyone direct me to or point me in the right direction of a decent site or send me a spreadsheet/training program for Russian Power Training that just doesn't give example programs but also explains the principles (or just explain them on here). I have found several sites on the net, all giving a different descriptions and contradicting example programs. I had a longish break after my last comp (Chase Comp) due to injuries and work and have been trying to get back into to training using the 5x5 method, which has worked to an extent but I feel I need to move on. What a shock that TWI are holding it in Yank land!!! They have been despirate for a yank winner for years and seem to give the yank competitiors every advantage to win! Although Shaw is genuinley a top competitor and needs no real favourtism. Unlike the previous TWI attemps at fixing it for Poundcake to win! WSM needs to be more diverse in its locations and deffo needs to come closer this way or to Iceland etc again.

Cheers for an outstanding comp Matt. Easily the most enjoyable comp I've done so far along with being the hardest. The day as a whole was really good and the atmosphere amongst the competitors really good. Had Monday off but will hit the gym today for some light work just to ease the stiffness off. strange1 said:Culdrose pt dept werent helpful at all i took the novice weights down to 60kg overhead, 200kg yoke, 75kg farmers a landrover harness pull and 80kg stones for reps but they still wanted it lighter as i said any light it would be a superstars comp rather than a strongman comp. the lad that was running with thing down there was going to be on draft in the tail end of march but it got mover to 28th of feb. so as the pt dept were not making it easy and the lad down there was going we thought it best to postpone it. im having a meeting with Drake pt dept tomorrow to sort a date for tail end of april start of may Danny Card the lpt who im having a meeting with is keen as musterd so i reakon we are better off doing at drake with the support of the pt dept as we should be able to get funds for trophies and tshirts ect I know that feeling! Was let down by the PT Corps last year hence had to can the Army Strongestman. I have now recruited larger 'clout' to the cause so hopefully have an Armys towards the end of this year? Where is HMS Drake? I may come and watch or even compete if in shape.

Cheers for a good comp John. I massively underachieved and was well under par as to what I am normally capable of but I still really enjoyed the day, especially the truck pull. I have aroound £600 in sponsors to collect which will push your total above £2000.

Help For Heroes take no money from donations for admin or wages, it all goes to the charities projects. This is the same for most of the Services charities.

hilliker said:the events are all doable for novices.i did the ministry of muscle novice comp in 2008 and they had 100kg log for reps and 280 yoke for distance.also 90kg farmers which was to easy for most of the competitors.my feeling is we need to slowly bridge the gap between novive and opens or novice and 105 otherwise once someone wins a novice where will they go from there. If you try to bridge the gap between novice and open to much you will just put off new comers from giving it a try. Most novice comps yokes start at around 240kg. The transition from novice to inters to open needs to be regulated properly and would be if a governing body was formed to put something down in writting. As a general rule they say inters (open weight) are the same as U105kg qualifiers not that novice (open weight). I do like the look of the rest of the comp though.

300kg yoke for novice is heavy, in fact as heavy as a Britains/Uk's qualifier, you need to make the events doable for novices and potential first timers. Apart from that looks like a good comp.

Carl said: is that comp army only?? i live in andover and would be very interested if its not, if it is, i could help out if needed? and we have an army guy at stregth tec who would be up for it Could deffinately use the help. Not sure about competing as it is supposed to Army only but as your old man is Ex Army I maybe able to sneak you in as a guest lifter, just means you wouldn't be able to win a trophy!!! May be able to use you as a dem troop to demo the events if you cannot compete, if you fancy that? What unit is that Army lad from at Strength Tec? What experience does he have?
