Friday, 22nd April start 14:00. Good Friday some call it.

Time to start back with something very easy, it's hot today, very for the time of year, car thermometer says 24, that 75 in old money

Deadlift, raw, all weights in kilos

60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 5
140 x 5
140 x 5
140 x 5
140 x 5
140 x 5

That'll do, no heroics. Not many down tonight so a few of us adjourned to a local hostelry for some nosebag and a chat. Very nice it was too. Not much work tonight, but it marks the return, the recommencement of activities. We are off once more. With it all to look forward to.

That was a delight to watch. Personally I find it easier to stand on the box and jump off, and when I say jump I mean fall

I prefer a boot rather than a shoe

Thank you. But remember there is no reason why you should not squat that amount and more. Just keep going and don't get injured

Back from the physio where the back required a bit of kicking and banging to sort it, but the shoulder was still giving jip, the treatment for that required considerable pressure delivered via the thumbs. That hurt a lot, and we may require another session. Wide grip benches are the most likely cause of this, they are out of the question until this is sorted. Then we will have to see. There is always more than one way to skin a cat and I really don't fancy going through all this again

Excellent. I do so like British records. Of course it doesn't really count until I beat the old one

It does indeed, and a very fine one, some kind folk were good enough to comment on it and all had good things to say. The squat is the centre of my universe. I am very happy. My back. legs, triceps and traps all ache and I slept through the last hour of "Lewis" but I'm happy

top lad great lifting

shame your heart wasnt in the last deadlift

will pop ur videos on later

A pleasure to meet you and the long fellow and that splendid, I should be up there on the platform thirty nine year old again. The fates and circumstance conspired against he last deadlift. I don't suppose it will bother but I would never treat a squat like that.

I hadn't realized that you had filmed me. Many thanks for that. You are a kind and generous man.

Conclusion

First and foremost, I had fun. The squats were a pleasure and I loved them, the bench was a disappointment but there are theories that can rectify the situation and I am inclined to implement them. The deadlifts could have been better but paid the price for being the third lift. There is a plan for that too, and again i am inclined to implement it. An enjoyable day, I met some people whose company I enjoy very much, the warm up room was very good. I have no arguments or issues with the referees. The total was a disappointment but there are reasons for that, a harsh man would say it's because I am crap, and that harsh man would have a point. On the plus side - I have the inclination to sort it. And that gentle reader is worth a lot.

Deadlift

Warmed to 240 in the back and opened on 250. The point to remember here is that once again I have no opponent, so one passed lift gets me the title for another year.

First attempt - 250 - pass. Easy enough and I am champion once more.

Second attempt - 260 - fail. This was harder than it should have been, I stalled on the way up. The back was feeling it form the 300 squat earlier. Had I needed it, I am fairly sure that I could have knuckled down and forced it up, but I don't need to. I have won, I am not on for any sort of pb or record, so I simply put it down.

Third attempt - there wasn't one. The back was seriously feeling it now. So I passed.
