This last set was difficult, despite an heroic handoff from Jim. Maybe throttle back a tad next week. Maybe.

I remembered.

Bench

20 x 10
20 x 10

No heroics. All easy and rightly so

Yesterday, at the Trafford centre, I entered an Apple store with the intention of purchasing a phone.

It was busy but at least they have their employees in uniform for easy identification purposes. One of these was handing a customer a small bag and bidding him farewell so I ambled over in his direction. He ignored me and started looking at his phone so I stopped at the opposite side of his table and started waving my arms about.

"Can I help?" he asked
"I do hope so" I answered, "I wish to buy a phone"
"I have to stay in this area" he advised "I cannot leave it"
I walked around to the table to a more sensible conversation distance "Are you tagged?" I enquired
"Not in the way you mean" he answered "but I cannot leave this area, how may I help?"
"I wish to buy a phone" I repeated
"Then I cannot" he replied "phones are over there. What is your name please?"
"Why?"
"So I can put you in the queue"
"You need a name for that?"
"I do"
"How long is the queue? As that will determine whether I wish to join it or not"
"Don't know, I have to put you in it to find out what position you will be in"
"But it's just on the other side of the room"
He shrugged and pointed to his phone
"I will return on a less busy day" I told him "But for the record, this is weird"
"It works quite well" he assured me
"Maybe, but it's weird"

I shall probably return midweek. Details to follow

A terrible four

XXXXG
YXYYX
XXXXX

Despite having four of the five this took a long while and took a lot of scribbling. I am beginning to dislike words that end in vowels

A straightforward four

YXXXY
XGXXX
XYXXX

The last four letters became pretty obvious pretty quickly. Simple after that.

A steady five

XYXXG
GXXXX
GYGXG
GXGGG

Went of it after the first two factfinders and it took more guesses than expected. Confidence can be often misplaced

A rather bothersome five

XYXXG
XXXXX
XXXXX
GGGXG

My usual three factfinders found very few facts, so the fourth guess took some considerable time to find. Child's play after that.

A very simple four

XYXXX
XXXXX
GXXXX

The answer occurred to be very swiftly, which as I had only two letters was a welcome relief. Fickle.

A bothersome four

XXXXG
XXXGX
XXXYX

This took a while. It is a word I have heard fairly often and was familiar with but probably have never said. I wonder how many words there are like that ?

Monday, 29th July, start 15:00

Got some unction and some mild drugs from the chemist in order to prevent my right hand looking any more like King Charlie's. We await developments. Physio on the back on the way to the gym as is usual for the last Monday of the month.

Bench
20 x 10
20 x 10
20 x 10
30 x 5
40 x 5
60 x 5
65 x 5
70 x 5
72 x 5
75 x 5
77 x 5
80 x 5

I appear to have been bit. My right hand is swollen and itchy. You wouldn't notice if you walked past me in the street but if you looked at the two together you wouldn't need a second guess as to which one it was. I may swing by the chemist later to see if he can recommend some soothing gunk. I endeavour to spend so little time outside it must have been a fortunate beastie to get a piece of me. I will therefore endeavour to spend less time in the open air. Damn the outdoors !
