Perhaps not, but a smooth-no straps-no suit-none hitched deadlift is miles different than a bouncy Mcbouncy deadlift. I understand the point Martin is making and I agree with it. They look like two entirely different lifts and could quite feasibly be given different names.
Nothing to get your knickers in a twist about.

Agree with both points

Adding straps to a deadlift no more changes the lift than adding wraps to a squat.

Having done both, I would consider straps assist the deadlift more that wraps assist the squat by a considerable margin.

Oh do f**k off with that nonsense.

I have to agree with Martin on this.

I was there when Felix did the 400 under IPF rules at Colne and it was a thing of great beauty and I consider it to be the best deadlift I have ever seen as his technique was bob on. Also Andy Bolton's 455 ? was better as he didn't use straps.

Whilst I am in awe of Eddie Hall's and Thor's excellent displays of strength, I can't class it as a deadlift. And if I did, I would class them as inferior to Felix's effort.

There is also a school of thought that by replying in that manner to Martin's post you are admitting defeat and losing the argument in one sentence.

Just my two penn'orth. What do I know ? I'm just a boy in a man's world

Rather chilly this morning, I arrived at Tescos at six o' clock and it was one degree, I arrived home at quarter to seven and it was half a degree more.

I cannot disagree with that. Put me down as a fan.

A little repair work done on the garage today, he did a grand job and cleared some of the foliage from around the approach, what a difference that has made. Good job, glad I had it done.

It does too. I do like the sound of that.

Good spot. I had missed it completely

Buy local and support your community.
You must own a barbell for tax relief.
You cannot wear gloves in the gym or if you do you will face a large fine.

That's more like it

Thirty second day of working from home. Still don't like it but it won't break my heart too many times to have to continue to do it. The big advantage is that the walk to work takes about eight seconds, that aside there aren't any. I miss people, I miss the gym and I miss the canteen.

One thing that did cross my mind was charities, I often put the coppers in my change in a charity box in the works canteen, ever since the coffee machine at work stopped taking copper coins I simply never got the opportunity to spend them so into the box they went.

I can't be the only person doing this and the canteen was not the only place I did it. How many charity boxes are there in how many shops that are all now closed ?

Gorgeous weather today but I yet to venture out, forecast colder for tomorrow, if that means the things that have been biting me will f**k off I will welcome it.

I was speaking last night with a couple of families from father down the street, they spend much more time outdoors than I do and they too have never known a year like this for bites.

I have no idea what is the cause of it, so I will use Occam's razor and blame working from home. I will do this very much tongue in cheek and leave it to the nutters and the conspiracy theorists to provide the proof. And by provide I mean make up.

I can understand people that visit barbers being in a dilemma as they cannot get their hair cut. You and I don't visit barbers so don't have this problem, and our beards we handle ourselves, yet we both seem undecided as to whether or not actually bother.

I am certain that under normal circumstances my beard would have been trimmed by now, but under the present circumstances I am undecided.

Two pieces of good news - one my brother popped round yesterday and brought some of his wife's pea and ham soup - which I love, so that is today's dinner sorted.

Secondly I received my car insurance reminder today and it is over one hundred pounds cheaper than last year. So hooray for that.

One piece of not so good news is that I still itch like an itchy thing, but I did recently purchase a tub of E45 cream which does seem to soothe it.
