Tonight was the start of the new bench routine. Did a bit of a run but my legs were still way too sore for that from the weekend so did a fair few warm-ups with the bar before starting the working sets Boards 30 kg: 5 40 kg: 5x5 - really about getting used to doing boards again as it has been a very long time. Last sets were unsurprisingly the best form and speed wise CGBP 30 kg: 5, 5, 5 Wide grip 30 kg: 8, 8, 8 Rows (1 armed on machine) 10: 10 20: 20 25: 10, 10, 10 Core stuff - hyperextensions, roman chair and hanging leg raises, weighted little bigs Good introduction to the new higher volume - felt like a worthwhile session Here is a link to my mountainbike blog if anyone wants a to read a write up about the race http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/forum/index.php?automodule=blog&am...

If I could survive in the hebrides without my job (and I didn't have an English accent lol) I'd be there like a shot. Underpopulation, great cycling and fantastic scenery sounds like a dream come true to me! Whatever happens - best of luck - be it that you stay in the Northwest because something comes up jobwise in the near future, or that you move northwards

Not that my opinion counts for much but... Rob, it would be good to see you keep posting your log on here - sure it may return to 'sugdendumbell' style for a while, but if you are still planning to deadlift then that is reason alone to keep to log going! Seriously - even if you decide to go the higher rep fitness route, that doesn't take away from it being strength training. Logging the progress of recovery from injury is always motivating for others who are also struggling with chronic problems. I'm sure most of the lot on here only moan about 8 reps being cardio - because it really is to them But heck - it's your site, your life - none of my business really

Well - I did the race....... and came first Can't quite believe it - I'm well stoaked to have come first on my first ever mountainbike race. I'm going to write up a blog enty on a different site later and will link it here if anyone wants to read it (saves taking up valuable powerlifting space with endurance sports ) But a brief overview is 15 laps at 5.75 miles per lap in 12 hours = feeling like a trainwreck this morning!
