Cos it's a strength competition and not a grip contest. Gutted I'm missing this and to add insult to injury can't even watch cos I'm working.

I love Misha . He's without doubt my fave out of the SM boys .. Except Hixxy of course x

I seen Tom Martin pull 460kg from 18" with absolute ease @ 83kg Bodyweight . Just saying :-)

But does Tom Martin have numerous lifts named after him?

£5 or less doesnt put anyone off when they make the trip there get to the door they dont turn around n say im not paying that.........
usual couple quid gesture to support the comp the crowd are MORE than willing to pay.

Most of the comps I have been too. The crowd is normally made up of people that are involved in the sport and the friends and family of the competitors(unless it's been part of a country fair or something similar where you tend to get passing interest). I would expects these people to be happy to put there hands in there pockets but Joe public would not be too quick to. If people on here think charging spectators is ok why is it not done more? All the comps I have been to have been free to spectate.

Whats wrong with charging spectators to watch?

This is not a mainstream sport with mass appeal. It's hard enough to get people to watch comps as it is without putting then off further by charging them.

A British level comp' would ideally have athletes who have qualified through regionals/nationals thus proving their strongman ability rather than their ability to finance the entry fee.

X2

I seen this happen with other sports promoters start getting carried away with luxuries and forgetting what the sport is about. Maybe I'm in the minority but I really don't mind competing in car parks and sports halls. What's important to me is the quality of the competitors and the equipment. What gonna be next? Charging spectators to watch?
