When I first started it was 300kg yokes in novices and 80 kg logs, I think that progression is about right. Also the yoke is very stable and big weights feel very comfortable on it as it's so well made

» Strongmen - what keeps you going? (Go to post)17-07-2014 @ 00:15
Few reasons for some to quit:

Feeling like your chance of winning has passed
Injury
Not enjoying it anymore
Feel it has a negative effect on your life
Health reasons
Not wanting to just make up the numbers
Other life commitments
Etc etc

To some none of the above are an issue but to others they are. I always said if I felt I couldn't go on and win one day I'd quit and also if my health was being affected. I personally see no point in flogging a dead horse but others guys would view it more like, if you're still enjoying it, why not carry on?

Personal preference I guess

What do you reckon you could have got if there was a competition like this when you were in your prime?
450?

When I hit my strongest I believed I could do 450 unfortunately my Deadlift strength never got back to that point.

Im the wrong side of 40 and my deadlift is not slowing down so get your arse in gear and get up on that winners poduim where you belong

Haha, I wish it was as simple as that. 10 years of strongman and 200-250 comps in that time have taken their toll

The_Lone_Wolf said:Terry what was the max you ever pulled, and do you think you could have got more?

440 and was good for more. Very few comps used to have max deadlifts back then

If all the big pullers come in in top shape it's gonna be amazing. I'm really looking forward to watching it. If I had to put my neck on the line after training with Brian I'd say he'll take it but any of the big 3 could win.

Whatever happens I hope we see loads of massive deadlifts and I'm just gutted they never did stuff like this when my Deadlift was at its strongest.

I once sat next to him on a plane in Ukraine, that was interesting.
