» Where Will It End? (Go to post)10-09-2009 @ 21:53
My opinion is if it gets more people involved in the sport it is a good thing! Some guys just aren't physically capable of getting up to really heavy BW's. I'll be honest I find the most entertaining comps to watch are the novice ones! I think there is room for all weight classes and all levels (novice, intermediate and open). The sport is small enough as it is so why not bring more people into it?

My events are, Keg Toss, Fingers, deadlift, Truck pull, Stones, and a Medley which is run with an atlas stone drop it in a sled and drag it back!

There are only 2 groups with an overhead

Hows the axle coming along Terry? Hitting sets of 6 now?

I have hit 5 no problem at all! but obviously that is fresh! I'm 100% sure I could do 6 now! We will see once I have done my heat and done 3 events if I can still get the same!

I have pressed Rob's db but wasn't gonna post a vid till I can do it on each arm! I don't have a press in my heat so not been busting my arse on the db recently!

even the stones seem light. would of thought it would be 130 150 170 190 210

Although I would agree they are a bit light I have heard many a British guy claim to lift 180+ stones in training then not load all 5 at BSM (same weights) VERY high platforms and large diameter of the last stone makes it harder than you would think! Also we have to run with the stones this year, again that makes it a completely different challenge!

The Log last year was 140 for reps and I would say a 140 on those old wooden logs is much harder than a 150 on a metal log! We did 125 at BSM on them!

The weights are totally outdated!

I know for a fact the axles in the final of WSM this year weigh 154kg! The DB's are 92kg and f**king huge!

I thought Mick was more of a 400 puller than a 320. Could be wrong.

Matt, any vids?

Maybe if I attempt 450 every week and fail it I can say I am a 450 deadlifter?

I think Mick is good for about 360ish

Out of curiousity I just noticed Mick Holding and Chris Gearing lifted and was wondering what they got?

Where is this?

It's in Faversham in Kent. Me and Paul rent the place. Anyone is welcome to come down and train. We have pretty much any kit that you could come up against in competition.

its looking good for this year, Jimmy looks fit, Tel is on much better form thanks to my deadlift coaching Wink Loz is performing consistantly better.

Go team GB! Someone please stop poundstone in his tracks, the Yanks will not shut up if he wins!

Your forgetting Felix & Sadler

Sadler performed extremley well at an earlier Euro event this summer, was right in the mix for top few places

Felix, Loz and sadler all did well in that one! It was in Poland! They were all in the top 6

Why is everyone hating the yoke?? I personally think it's a great event!

I personally think the tire flip is a crap event to watch! Just bored with it I guess!

Agree with people on the grip type events! They are really crap for crowds IMO, all you get is someone standing there, then a bit of shaking, then a stupid face! same from every person!

My least favourite to do is probably probably squat for reps, 1 cause I am a crap squatter and 2 because it just f**ks you for the rest of the contest!

Oooo thought I read somewhere that Nee didn't get a place

Like Will said think they should have made room for Shepanski.

Good like to the england contingent. I will be supporting Loz & Terry.

I will also be hoping Poundstone looses on the last stone again.Grin

I'm glad Kevin got a spot! He's a great guy and fun to be around!

There are only 29 names on the list so who knows they may make room for him!

I will do my best as always! Just hope my best is good enough!

I wouldn't mind seeing that happen too!! ;-)

Not sure on what form he is on, but I saw and spoke with Jimmy at the BPC meet weekend, he is looking monsterous and very solid (between trying to get on the bouncy castle).
He also invited me to train with him (I was going down to the gym to see bulldog at some point) when I said I was going to take an excursion into strongman. Good fella to train with by the sounds of it.

Hope he and the other lads representing the UK (Felix the deadlift machine, Loz the biggenator and Andy Bs grip coach, Tel the internet fish and secret best friend of me and of course Jimmy the fun guy) - have a good one lads.

I had Jimmy down training with me and the weekend and he looks in good shape!

Also Darren will be competing!

I think it will be tough for any of us to get through but I'm sure at least a couple will manage it!

No bulls**t this year the winner can truely say they are the best strongman on the planet!
