Sorry if you've already answered this, but I only read through the last couple of pages. How come no pressing / upper body stuff? Strong squatting & pulling anyway though mate

Guy before me squatted 200kg so was trying to take first place. As it happens it wouldn't have mattered anyway, he hit 210kg on his final attemp (cheating bas***d used wraps though Grin Tongue ). Plus probably let the ego get in the way a bit, before the comp I was sure I'd squat 200-210 easily but it just wasn't there on the day.

Another vid from the comp, 80kg log for reps

And training vid, 100kg log for a triple

Z s comment doesn't surprise me, my wife and her family are from eastern Europe and the humour/mentality of the people there they don't have much awareness or concern of causing offence, they pretty much call it as they see it, I can imagine them saying similar. Maybe its the same in Lithuania.
Personally I don't believe the events are massively in Z s favour a Hummer deadlift would have been better for a healthy Z and Dumbbell is probably his weakest pressing event.
I don't like event where the event is influenced massively by the height(big or small) or arm length, hand size of competitors, it was more acceptable in WSM when they had more events in years gone by and a poor performance in one event didn't mean no chance of winning.
Does Arnold still have separate grip event?
As far as Stones over bar go, I don't like the event much I would prefer ditch the dumbbell and put in a natural stone overhead pressing event, or a hummer tyre bench press.

Hummer tyre bench press, lol that'd be hilarious

if you had some goodmornings under your belt...you would have recovered that 205Wink

I hate good mornings! Tried them a few times and just can get to grips with 'em Confused Been doing a lot of pause squats since this comp, that's surely got to help?

10/03/16 - Thursday

Pause bench
Bar x a couple of sets
60kg x 6
80kg x 4
90kg x 3
100kg x 1
110kg x 4
110kg x 4
110kg x 4
110kg x 4
110kg x 4
^ all very smooth, didn't have a spotter so didn't want to push to failure. 5x5 will happen in next couple of weeks

DB bench press
44kg's x 8 PB
44kg's x 8
46kg's x 6 PB
46kg's x 5

Incline hammer strength press
70kg x 12
75kg x 12 PB
80kg x 11 PB
85kg x 10 PB
Very cheap PBs here but I'll take them nonetheless Grin

Pec dec
175lbs x 12
205lbs x 10
220lbs x 9

Very solid today seeing as I've put in a ton of graft over the last three days, back and legs were knackered and shoulders / upper chest were pretty tight as well. Looking forward to a much needed rest day tomorrow, too bad I'll be spending it doing a 12 hour split shift Roll-Eyes

hifilover said:Cracking squatting there, more so for your bantam body weight Wink (I'm 136kg BTW, so youre a feather weight as far as I'm concerned haha) Happy

I'd say the 190kg squat looked strong, but that was close to your limit, the extra 15kg really looked heavy

15kg's a massive jump, hell, I've failed squats with an extra 2.5kg added on when I've been at my limit!

Thanks man, youre right i think 195-200 was probably my limit for the day. Conditions werent the best for a big squat tbh, think my limit is a bit higher in the gym. Plan to triple 190 in the next few weeks Happy

Sad too see thus. But brians a very nice guy I can't believe there's so many haters of him

Zydrunas has always been my favourite strongman, but if this is true then my opinion of him is drastically lowered

Was looking at some squat videos from a novice comp I did a couple weeks back and figured why not upload them? Was dissapointed to miss 205kg and a little surprised tbh, given how training had been going and how 190kg moved. Think if this hadn't been the third event of the day I'd have smashed it, gonna hit some big squats in the gym this year Happy sorry bout the view not being the best :/

You owe me £100, unless you have a video or reliable witness to prove otherwise?

Have you got PayPal?

Don't know why but I lost it at this

I'm a little confused. I haven't seen the video, but it sounds like he checks out fine, but then admits that he's doing damage to his body. What does that mean exactly? Just that the PED's will have long term damaging effects?

He said that he thinks he'll shorten his life if he stays at this bodyweight for too long (currently 28 stone, shooting for 30 stone)

Well i do have a bench of a russian 13 year old "girl", i dont think the form is the reson because i have changed it a lot but i do need to take a second look at it because i have a very strange ratio between all my press movments,
i can strict ohp almost 90kg, incline bench 100kg and do weighted dips with 30-40 kg for volume...
and bench 105kg Confused
and almost forgot - thank you Happy

Those are some extremely weird ratios! Good strength on deadlifts though, especially at 17

09/03/16 - Wednesday

Legs were still in bits from Monday, so wasn't expecting great things today. Lower back was pretty sore as well hence all the warmup sets.

Deadlift
70kg x 3
90kg x 3
110kg x 3
130kg x 2
150kg x 2
170kg x 1
185kg x 5
185kg x 5
185kg x 5
185kg x 5
185kg x 5

This was the heaviest 5x5 I've ever done, was very very tough but made it through. Will try a 5x5 with 190kg next week, gonna get more rest between squats n deads so hopefully will be stronger then.

T-bar rows
25kg x 5
50kg x 5
75kg x 5
95kg x 5
107.5kg x 5 PB
107.5kg x 5

Chin-ups
BW x 10
BW x 9
BW x 9

DB rows
50kg x 12
50kg x 12
50kg x 12

Preacher curls
30kg x 6
30kg x 5
30kg x 5
30kg x 5

Today was brutal, gonna eat everything in sight then lay in bed for the rest of the day Grin . Will do some foam roller / lacrosse ball work later if I have the energy
