how unequipped is unequipped

Can I wear knee wraps and wrist wraps on the squat?

Ben you can wear wrist wraps and belt plus neoprene type knee sleeves(ie rehbands, SBD and I think strengthshop are now approved) knee wraps are not permitted under unequipped rules, hope that helps.

We have the Lancs and Cheshire powerlifting champs coming up on May 11th, this will run primarily as an unequipped contest since this seems more popular now, however we are happy to run an equipped group as well for those choosing to use support gear.
The venue is Intershape gym in Colne, Lancs BB8 0AD. Weigh in is 9 til 10.30 and as usual guests from other gbpf regions and first timers are welcome.
Please contact bevans5088@aol.com for entry details

i like to come out the front too because I have a v narrow grip so once I've racked it's easier to just sort of pop forward

Absolutely no reason at all why you can't come out of the front of the rack once the bar is secure in the racks. I've never seen that to be an issue at any contest.

If you've got a good attitude to your work then there are loads of options for you. Contact some recruitment agencies and work with them to produce a good CV, they are in touch with loads of companies who in most cases are desperate to employ people of the right caliber. They way companies recruit has changed big time, the jobs section in the local rag is ot the place anymore. They don't charge you anything and you should register with several, ok you maybe haven't had an interview for years but working with your recruiter they will get you used to answering the kind of questions you'll be asked. The fact youve been in long term employment is a positive for a future employer too. Consider doing some temporary contracts which will give you a taste of different roles and often the hourly rate can be somewhat more than permanent work. Don't be put off if you they don't have anything for you, certain recruiters specialise in certain industries such as IT, manufacturing, sales, construction etc some specialise in temp roles too, call several. Good luck.

You could argue that a LOL and a PMSL are the same thing, but we all know otherwise.
"GOOD LIFT" = LOL
"ALMOST" = PMSL.

Chromium picolinate, that takes me back. What a bunch of s**t.
Do you remember Gugglestrones? Supposedly increase your thyroid production to rip fat off faster?

I'm afraid I can't remember that one, but there's been raw glandulars, dibencozide, arg/orn and. Countless others over the years that have been and gone due to their foundations on weak science.
A guy I know did his uni thesis on creatine and found no evidence to support that any of the variants were more effective than creatine monohydrate, but they have to sell it as "the next big thing"

Fazc said:Cell-Tech it was Bryn. The original one was back in the 90's.

f**king horrendous, and yes stupidly over priced.

If I recall it was Chromium picolinate that was the special addition to it to Cell tech to improve insulin sensitivity, the truth was that it only improved your insulin sensitivity if you were chromium deficient. So the other 99.9% of people paid over the top to piss that down the drain along with the 3000mg of vitamin C they were told was essential for gains.

What is there to support the theory of needing protein within 30 minutes or so of training?
That is how I have always had shakes, and what most of the bumf I read when I started says.

Probably founded on an article written in a 1980s bodybuilding magazine written by Joe Weider to sell his latest supplement and has now become the received wisdom. It's probably not a bad habit to have a post workout drink but it seems the benefits are probably overstated. So much of the supplement industry is based on bulls**t when you actually read up on it, do you remember Cybergenics? Hugely expensive product with laughable before and after pictures. Cell mass was another which was basically creatine and glucose and some unproven additions which was then priced at several times the real price.
At the moment it all seems to be Charles Poliquin says xyz but there's lots who contradict his theories.

As others have said, you need a singlet plus a plain round neck tshirt or one with an approved logo, you need socks long enough to cover the shins (football socks are fine). Pretty much any training shoes are fine as well as proper weightlifting shoes and you may wear dead lift slippers Belt to be leather without padding and of the dimensions on ipf site, wrist wraps to be of approved type. If you're in doubt drop me a PM.
Take the time to read the rules on the IPF website and more importantly rehearse your lifts in the gym in the manner which you'll perform them in a contest getting someone to call referees commands etc. Develop a mental checklist of how you'll perform the lift's to improve your chances of success, it's really frustrating seeing someone fail a lift due to not observing commands, practice and you won't be one of them!
Hope that helps.

How thick is the section under the bench that it bent with that amount of weight?? I made a bench with 40mm section and its had a lot more hammer than that and is still fine.

Is it cheating if all the other kids do it though?

It's cheating if the rules say you can't do it. It's a s**t excuse to say "they're all at it so I must join them"
