» GBPF British Classic (Go to post)07-10-2014 @ 22:44
From all reports the venue and setup was excellent, quite a contrast from the ladies a few weeks before.
» The iPhone six thread (Go to post)29-09-2014 @ 21:44
Can anyone quickly summarise the benefits of the 6 over the 5s? An extra megapixel on the cam and a bit thinner?

I know a guy who badly tore his pec doing dips
» Powerlifting Bar between £300 and £500 (Go to post)14-09-2014 @ 09:15
If never heard of wolverson before but their power bar specification certainly reads well, it could well be the answer to this frequently posted question of which bar should I buy? Would be interested to hear from people who've owned one a while

Quite appropriate on my screen that the advertising banner is for "Watchfinder"
» GBPF NW Bench Press 2014 (Go to post)22-08-2014 @ 20:24
Steady flow of entries coming in now, great comp for first timers.
» best place to buy chains? (Go to post)21-08-2014 @ 19:14
Try lifting equipment companies for used chain, they have to replace it if worn or damaged.

As above and would also recommend Alberts Shed

As Rick said it doesn't need to be cured that way, other methods can discolour the meat leaving it a brownish colour which many will find unappealing?

It's the usual advice- it's ok to eat red meat in moderation. However there was more evidence processed meats were harmful.
» GBPF NW Bench Press 2014 (Go to post)09-08-2014 @ 07:46
The GBPF NW bench contest is coming up on September 28th at Intershape in Colne. This is a great contest for first timers which could be useful preparation for the NW powerlifting champs at the end of Nov.
You can opt to lift either unequipped or equipped, this contest will be a qualifier for the British bench championships held usually Jan/Feb. As usual guests and first timers are welcome, contact bevans5088@aol.com
» Stiff Bars (Go to post)30-07-2014 @ 23:43
It's a combination of slim plates and a good bar that will make a good setup, it's pointless getting a Texas bar and loading it up with bumpers right to the ends, get a pair of 50kg plates, it does make a difference.

The Quest Q Bar was IPF approved for several years and their non IPF bar uses the same shaft, I've never used one but its sensibly priced. Would be worth a few people clubbing together to get a couple to save on shipping.

It's seems you have a disciple of the near silent deadlift descent and floor contact!

Great performance, bit of headroom on all your lifts too. Well done!
