Yes this comp is a qualify for 2016 nationals. It will definitely be over 2 days and very little chance of being able to accommodate guests, especially with the new members joining for the novice comp who'll no doubt want to do a 2nd comp before year end.

That's a low blow Funkey, technically he is eligible to return to the GBPF now.

I can't speak for weightlifting but numbers in powerlifting have risen from approx 7-800 about 3 years ago to about 1700 and hopefully 2000 by the year end in the GBPF

If you join after Nov 1st (I think) then it runs till the end of 2016, it's likely to be a very busy one. As an indicator the novice comp filled a complete day in less than 8 hrs from opening!

Andy I know I can rely upon you to hold the rehearsals for those girls. I've actually see that sort of thing done at a Russian contest!

It's a very real issue Luke, we could actually have too many lifters for a 2 day event! It's a very positive sign as to how the sport has grown in the last year or two, I think we've 170 members in the region so far this year. They can't all lift!

I've never been, judging by the number of selfies I've seen on Facebook with their favourite physique competitor I'm glad I've avoided it. If You go to a trade fair at the NEC its usually free, so they add a couple of second rate powerlifting and bodybuilding events and charge you £30 I'm going to the Chatsworth international Horse Trials instead!

Thanks for the refereeing commits Rick and Pete. The contest is now full, looks like the NW champs in Nov might be a busy one with all these new members too!

Unbelievable response to this, we've had to expand the contest to run on Saturday afternoon too. Just a few places left now.

August 23rd 2015
This competition is intended for novices ie those people who have done a maximum of two competitions and have never competed nationally. Rules, regulations and commands will be explained on the day and there will be experienced powerlifters in the warm-up room to help out.

Entry will be via the link above and will be in two phases. Initial entry will be open to lifters who have never competed or who have only done one competition - this is intended to give priority to absolute beginners. This phase will open on 9th May. We will open up to lifters who have competed twice before on 27th June. In the unlikely event of there being any places left, we will open up to novices from other divisions on 18th July and entry will close on 1st August.

This event will be capped at 40 lifters. Entry fee is £10.
Event is hosted by:

The con is you won't get a start command on bench in a powerlifting contest!
» Powerlifting Bar between £300 and £500 (Go to post)03-02-2015 @ 19:47
That ATX bar seems to tick all the boxes, would probably last most people a long time provided its not dropped on safety bars too often.
