Wes said:Sacked it off after only 3 sessions.
My back was in tatters after only the first heavy'ish set.
My ability to recover in 3 days from Deadlifting, in order to do it again is not there.
I don't believe this Russian stuff is s**t, just s**t for me at this time !!
I may well have come good on it if I'd persevered, but the way my back felt yesterday evening and today...I ain't risking it !!

do you fail from the floor or at lockout typically with deadlifts?

personally in my opinion (for what its worth compared to some of the better lifters already posted) is that those who fail at lockout tend to have a technique which is more damaging and draining when pulling.

if I was to run it for deads I would choose a max with perfect technique more akin to those who fail off the floor

today trained somewhere else
bench
bar x 5
60kg x 5
81kg x 3
102kg x 1
124kg x 1, 6 - ffs getting someone else to spot isa nightmare!!!! not difficult to say understand 'don't touch the bar!!!! felt had another 1-2 in me but as soon as his hands went on it the set was done

cleans
bar x learning complex
40kg x 3
60kg x 3
80kg x 2
90kgx 1 bit rough
100kg x f,f same issues as yesterday

hammer strength shoulder press
40kg x 5
80kg x 5,5,5 - focus on each rep having a one second pause so dead start each time

hip cleans
60kg x 3,3,3
80kg x 2
100kg x 2,2

tbar prone row
20kg x 15,15 - pure bodybuilding controlled reps with squeezes at the top

how am I finding cleans so difficult but can hip clean the weight no problems? really tryingto focus on not pulling with my arms as much and getting lowerbody to do the work

wtf - abysmal workout that I left it mid way throughit was just not in me today
cleans
bar x learning complex
40kg x 2
70kgx 2
80kg x 1
100kgx 1+f,f
80kg x 1
90kg x 1
100kg x f
just could not seem to pull under - not moving well at all

squats
100kg x 1
140kg x 1
160kg x 1
180kg x 1 belt on
192.5kg x f,f

was aiming for 6-8 with this weight but just felt wrong - each time started to go down and knew it wasn't going to be coming back up
left it for another day - pick my battles

I hate the term ATG... If you leave a sweaty ring piece stain on the floor after squatting, only then can it be classed as ATG.

Depends on how long your grass is surely? from your description you clearly favour a neatly trimmed lawn, others however might like a wild meadow

today
cleans
bar x learning complex
40kg x 2
60kg x 2

deadlifts
100kg x 1
140lg x 1
160kg x 1
180kg x 1
195kg x 5,5,5,8 - belt on

suspended chain squats
60kg x 2
100kg x 2
155kg x 5

don't know why I did the 100kg cleans, weight feels so easy but just dont get that snap under

layne norton stated the judges were consistent and a lot of people hot red lighted for depth unless it was clearly in.

if you look though this just looks a close call - the videos are from the front and most feel its in - this includes the centre ref. from the side both refs red lighted it (one side ref red lighted his first attempt).

as long as the refs were consistent at the comp it seems a fair call

glutes feel busted from swings - actually hurt so much that setting up on bench was tricky!
bench
bar x 5
60kg x3
80kg x 3
100lg x 1
110kg x 5,5,5,10

pin overhead press
60kg x 3
80kg x 5,4
70kg x 5

pull up
bw x 5
+15kg x 5,5,5

lateral raises
15kg x 20,15

dumbell curls
15kgs x 12,12

last rep ofbench was a grinder - not good when no spotter
» Loompaland powerlifting and quick lifts (Go to post)19-10-2015 @ 19:30
today. lower back and hips felt tight and awkward
cleans
bar x learning complex
40kg x 2
50kg x 2
70kg x 2
80kg x 2
90kg x 4,4,4

squats
100kg x 1
145kg x 1
165kg x 1
175kg x 5,5,5,6

kettlebell swings
40kg x 5 on each arm
24kg x 5

tactical strength challenge attempt(200 swings in ten minutes)
24kg x 100 swings in five minutes - not pleasent as 10 swings every thirty seconds

ledt sumo deads as back felt tight. kettlebell swings always makes my back feel better so decided to do a scaled tactical strength challenge - normally 32kg bell x 200 swings in ten minutes - 24kg x 100 in five minutes was enough - yuck. will add a minute each session once doing 200 in ten minutes will reset with a heavier bell

deadlifts felt good
ankle flexibility significantly improved on suspended chain squats - felt good solid deep starting position. want to get this up to 165-170kg x5 over next few weeks

» Loompaland powerlifting and quick lifts (Go to post)08-10-2015 @ 08:01

annoyed. cleans were not moving well. moved onto deadlifts and were moving really well. reps started to slow down as got to eight so started to power hips through more - too much on tenth as felt I overextended and jarred lower back. felt I had 12 or more in me so annoyed as didnt get a PB
