Comp is at Glow, Bluewater (Kent) with some top international names competing including Thor, Eddy Hall, Radz and Ervin Katona.

Training Update

The swelling has come down and I've got a suspected grade 2 tear of my ATFL. I'm not going to have a scan as I suspect it will find things are a bit worse down there so its the conservative route for me. Been in a boot for the last 10 days (came out today) so plenty of proprioception work is on the card.

I see this injury a lot at work and I usually get guys back in 6-8 weeks. I have a comp in 4 and a half weeks so it should be just about doable (will be exactly 6 weeks post injury).

One benefit form the injury is that my bodyweight has gone up to 132.8kg.For the last 10 days I have been just doing Upperbody work and some Bulagrian split squats in the boot. Yesterday I did this session in the boot:

I find a lot of people who struggle using a belt on deadlifts tend to have it on too tight.

Injured my ankle Saturday night playing dodgeball Grin

Won't know what I've done until the swelling and bruising goes down (hopefully tomorrow) but I don't think its too bad. Hopefully back to usual training next week. This week is just some seated UB work, not really worth writing about.

Front Hold
Worked up to a max set then some DB shoulder strength endurance work.

Conan's (On yoke)
Not the best set up, very awkward and tough to breathe but got several sets in.

Frame Carry
Worked up to 220x40m (turn @20m) in a time of 16sec

Giants Live Sweden

I got the invite for this comp around 6 weeks ago so I had to change my training up to get some strength back after not lifting anything for the month of September. Training has been going well so I was confident I would do well on some events.

I flew out on the Friday morning and we had the athlete's meeting that Friday night and once again I was the smallest in the room. At dinner that night I saw why I was the smallest as Brian Shaw proceeded to eat around 5kg of lasagne.

The day of the comp came round and I was nervous a hell. The venue was a brand new Basketball arena with big screens and 2500sets. The comp was a sell out. Anyway onto the events.

Farmers Walk 150kgx40m
This was with a turn around a marker so no drop turns. I was the first to complete it up to that point so got some good points. - 4th Place

Apollons Axle
162kg for reps. Due to the placings in the last event I was going head to head with Brian which was amazing. Got 2 reps, not sure on placing.

Keg Toss
I haven't done keg toss since 2011 so I took my time with this one. Kegs ranging form 18kg to 25kg. I did 6 kegs in an ok time, not sure on placing.

Car Deadlift
Billed around 350kg I think it was more like 330kg. I managed 10reps for 4th place. Brian won with 15.

4x120kg Ironmind sacks. Believe it or not this is the first time I have done this exact event in a competition. I was a bit slow on the pick up of each sack which really cost me and left in 7th place for this event with all the times pretty close at the top. Definitely one to work on!

The Norwegian set of stones up to a large diameter 190 at the end. Took my time with them as I didn't want to mess up a stone. I need to work on being quicker between the stones. Got 4th place in this and 4th place overall.

So close to the 3rd spot but I think with it being my first international I was a bit cautious. Obviously I am over the moon with 4th place and the whole comp experience was incredible.

A few days rest now then back training Thursday prepping for my comps in the new year.
