Post Edited: 14.05.2015 @ 17:35 PM by Boar I've been using the kit for a good while now and I must say the quality is awesome. I'm especially enjoying these neoprene sleeves atm:http://giants-pro.com/products/neoprene-knee-sleeve/?ref=13 I'm also a converted believer in the figure of 8 straps. Originally I didn't like the idea of them but after using them for after the Brits I really like them. comfortable to use and solid. http://giants-pro.com/products/figure-of-8-straps/?ref=13

I would have probably preferred an Anderson Squat/squat from pins over a box squat. Bar completely motionless and no box to influence squat form

Flash said: Well sir, a pleasure to have a comment, I hope your training for WSM is going well. Farmers is hit and miss, thin handles, grip good, thicker handles, grip childlike You coming to Leicester for Midlands 105? Train after? Or is it around time of the big one? Hey, strongman is whoever thinks best. If I tried to deadlift it, I would of got about 2 reps. So I used my height, or lack of it, for a change which proved to be advantageous. Yep training is going well. s**t is getting heavy now though! Nah sadly I wont be at the mids 105s as i'll still be in Malaysia. Oh yeah I don't judge you for doing it mate, it is after all a competition so anything goes. I would have "no lift" you if I was ref!

Nice work brother! Grip on farmers has come on loads. That deadlift event looked very "unorthodox" shall we say.
» Cold treatment for recovery, Unneccessary. (Go to post) | 22-01-2015 @ 17:57
People are tending to move away from ice baths now and moving towards cold water immersion at temps of 10-14degrees. Lots of studies to be found on CWI and it effect on Heart rate variability with a shift towards parasympathetic activity. Changes have been observed using various software packages available and athletes report better sleep and feel more "recovered" subjectively. Is it worth it for the usual weightlifter? Probably not. Best used for high level professional athletes. Google scholar cold water immersion and heart rate variability will throw up more than enough further reading for those interested.

The_Lone_Wolf said:Congrats on your result on Saturday Bish. I must say, when the yoke was being bigged up pre event by Z and Loz, I said to my missus that I was shocked that nobody mentioned you as a favourite and that you would smash it! Hopefully now they know! How are you feeling now post show? Happy with the performance? Haha Cheers mate I was absolutely broken post show as my back went into spasm, feeling much better now. I picked up a couple of injuries in the lead up to the show so I didn't want to push it too hard so I'm pretty happy with the result - especially as if my strap hadn't snapped on the deadlift I would have taken 2nd overall. Bit disappointed with log as its been going well in training. They were brand new and slippy which proved a problem for us who use their legs to press as it kept slipping out of position every time I dipped for the press. The 3 guys who pressed the log all strict pressed it therefore didn't have this problem. Lesson learnt - keep working on strict log. Next comp for me is Giants Live Doncaster so all my training is working towards that.

kingham22 said:Just wondering if any you guys or girls have got asthma and how do you manage/ get on with it I had bad asthma as a child and seemed to grow out of it when I started playing sports. But the past few years I have noticed a slow decline in my cardio fitness. Up till the point last night where even when I was laying down I couldn't catch my breath. scary Needless to say I have been to the docs. But I am just wondering how anyone else trains/lives with it Yep I have asthma. I keep my inhalers around the house and in kit bags but I tend to only have problems in really cold weather if cats are about. Regular CV fitness work helps with asthma. Also a tip: you can buy salbutamol inhalers in Spain and other European countries over the counter cheaper than on the nhs in the uk
