JC said: Cant see a set of events were Shaw beats Thor these days TBH. Of all Shaw's best events, Thor is better in WSM format Deadlift? I would still back Shaw in a yoke as well. In a standard final of frame, log, yoke, truck Pull, deadlift and stones I would back Shaw on log, yoke and deadlift. So it really would depend how many people got between them on each event.

Ben_F said: Is straps on frame any different to tacky on stones? Depends if you want frame to be a test of grip or not. Straps completely changes the limiting factor in the event. Tacky on stones makes it easier but either way it is limited by back strength and mobility.

Don't want to sound like a dick, but two overheads in five events and straps on the frame makes it seem a bit like a Big Z benefit gig.

Hugo Girrard has to be up there. spent year after year winning everything but always seemed to struggle to get through a WSM final.

Post Edited: 03.01.2015 @ 01:43 AM by MJG One thing I would almost guarantee is that Eddie will beat Oberst at Arnolds. And after listening to Oberst's interview I can't wait for it to happen. Beck sounded almost a little embarrassed.

MarkClegg said:Yes I agree .. All I ever hear about Worlds Strongest Man is that its a TV production ! Its all about the TV ! Yeah BUT what you've got to understand is its just a TV show !! Really ? Then why not just have 6 guys in the final so you can see them ? What does having 3-4 guys that you don't even get to see add to this TV production ? I'm not sure ? 90 minute TV show ? Two one hour shows ? or 8 guys in the final ? I would go with the final being split over a couple of one hour shows but with 8 events instead of 6 and only 5 events in the heats.

The competition was obviously awesome, however I was disappointed by the production. You would not of known 8 of the guys took part. Not even anything at the beginning introducing them or anything. I think they need to make the final a 1 and a half hour show to do it justice. Think how much more impact Shaw's Keg toss run would of had if we had seen 8 of the best guys in the world go before him and not complete it.

Of course it is worth remembering that there will be another couple of Giants Live events before WSM so there is still time for some guys to force themselves in.

JonesAJ said:Britains seems to have too many whether this is through sponsers or tv rights? Im disappointed with the lack of Scandinavians unless there is a lack of competitors or injuries. UK is guaranteed a competitor per group. To be fair if you disregarded nationality and got the best 30 guys possible at least 5 of them would be Brits. Just look at WSM 2014 - 3 Brits in the final and 2 more very close. Next year there are 3 guys from Sweden already qualified and there always seems to be one from Norway. To be honest the only guy from Scandanavia who has had major success at the top level in recent years is Arsjo. |
