Am I the only one feeling a bit more hopeful now that Russia have turned up? Obama isn't a war leader. You could see Churchill getting on with Putin. China has also sent military advisers and a battleship to the Russian naval base in Syria.

I'm on a diet and doing high reps and circuits to help weight loss and fitness along. I'm finding low back recovery awful.

Didnt read rest of the post.
Good luck with it.

Best reply.

A mate of mine did it by buying off an approved dealer and prearranging with a dealer at the other end that they would take the bike off him. He lost 1.5k on it but was happy enough as that was less than the rental would have been. A Dyna or a Fat Bob would be the way to go. Big comfy seats, usually with back rest. The trick is to get off route 66 to see some of the oddball stuff.
www.blacktopcandys.com car rental had some fun maps and places to stay if your looking.

One other thing to factor in is storage. If you can get an upright weights tree that holds bars too you will have a lot more space to exercise in. I'd mine on the floor leaning for a few weeks. Not good. Got a secondhand one like this for 25 quid and it made life a lot easier. 6 bar spots would be better if you plan on getting a log, axel, oly dumbells and bar.

(Probably NSFW) I thought this story was interesting too. A Kazakh Muslim leader wishes to tax those with more extra. Seems like a socialist dream paradise.

And tbh I'll only do that when I'm fat. Maybe it's cos Rippledough is a fat c**t?

You put things so succinctly.

I've a 4" belt I use for everything. Mark Rippetoe is on about these restricting movement in the deadlift here, http://startingstrength.com/site/article/the_belt_and_the_dead... Skip to the bottom of page two if you want the meat and no gravy.

It seems to make sense.

By the way, the Rogue Pig is a $900 piece of equipment, so I'm not sure about the "garage gym" angle.

I thought a pig was a few railway sleepers bolted together with rope on the top for padding. Didn't realise it was a Rogue product.

I wouldn't be able to get a 100kg log up so yes it seems heavy. I'd still have fun trying.

macroth and dannyboy are not "grumpy". They are very pleasant gentlemen Happy

They put a ball or foam inside to make them about the same size as the 80kg with the one I used.

(Also nice sly dig at Macroth and Dannyboy lol)

Double overhand is the best way to train grip. I work up to about 150kg DOH, then switch to mixed for sets of five up to 180kg. Then back to DOH for 150kg for 5x3.
I like to move fast from the floor and found bouncing the bar the way eddy hall does at the start helps be rip/explode away.
I tried fat grips on DL for a while when I had tendonitis in my Thumb. Was much harder on the forearms, but I found it easier on the grip.
Hook grip is nice for singles, but not so good for reps.

^^People are a bit grumpy on here sometimes.

The local strongman club to me is kind of a garage gym. When he started getting equipment there was a hodgepodge of stuff just like this (I think the stones were 50, 60, 80, 120kg which was a fairly brutal jump for me!)

You'll have fun and its great to support someone starting out. This competition/fun meet is probably a good way for him to advertise. Enjoy.
