Did some deadlifts on Wednesday. Went up to 165x8 and my lower back starting hurting so I just let it there. I wouldn't say I've re-injured it, but it's definitely not good. Think I'm going to have to just leave deadlifts for the next few months and let it fully recover, otherwise this'll just keep happening and I'll never get anywhere. In the meantime I'll just work harder on other stuff that doesn't seem to aggravate my back, such as squats, chins, DB rows, farmers walks and maybe some lighter RDLs if I feel okay for it. Anyway, here was today's training:

Log press
35 x 6
45 x 5
55 x 5
65 x 5
75 x 4
Was weak but couldn't use as much leg drive as normal due to my back. Also haven't done log pressing in a while so it felt a little awkward. Next time 80 x 4-5

Seated shoulder press
40 x 9
50 x 8
60 x 8
40 x 20

Lateral raises
15's x 17
15's x 12, 7.5's x 13 drop set

Bent over flies
7.5's 3x20

Close grip bench
40 x 10
60 x 7
80 x 5
90 x 9
Not a PB, but considering my shoulders were already fatigued I'll take it. Will try 92.5 for the same reps next time.

Cheat curls
20 x 10
40 x 6
50 x 16

Dips
BW x 10
BW x 30

Strict curls
40 x 7
40 x 7
30 x 16

DB skullcrushers / incline db curls superset
15's x 8 / 10
15's x 8 / 10
15's x 7 / 10

I think it went on till around 4-5pm last year, but a lot of the competitors got injured after the first event and werent able to continue, so it may be later if the field is full. It depends on the events I guess.

Enjoy watching you lift, you move very well for a guy your size

Probably overdid it on the volume a bit tonight considering I'd already trained this morning. Don't know if I'll be fully recovered by Wednesday to get the PBs I want on bench & deadlift.

Close grip bench
20 x 15
40 x 8
60 x 5
80 x 5
95 x 5
105 x 4 - wanted 5 but still a 1 rep PB
115 x 1
120 x 0 - grrrr

Cheat curls
20 x 10
40 x 5
47.5 x 15
27.5 x 20 - pseudo strict

Dips / db curls superset
BW x 10 / 18's x 10
BW+30 x 8 / 18's x 10
BW+20 x 12 / 18's x 10
Dips felt awkward as I didn't have my belt so had to use a dumbbell between the legs to add weight. Also the dip station wasn't as comfy as the one I use at home.

Incline db curls / db skullcrushers superset
14's x 15 / 14's x 10
14's x 15 / 14's x 10
14's x 12 / 14's x 10

Seated facepulls
4 x 15
» Slow & Steady Gains (Go to post)06-07-2015 @ 05:44
Squat (wrist wraps & knee sleeves, no belt)
60 x 8
85 x 8
105 x 8
125 x 8
145 x 8 - beltless PB, goal is 160 for 8 beltless in three weeks.

Strict press (no belt)
20 x 12
30 x 8
40 x 8
50 x 8
55 x 8
57.5 x 8
Starting to feel bit stronger on this, prioritising it over bench seems to be doing the trick.

Chin-ups
Bodyweight x 5
BW+5 x 13,11

Farmers walk
20 per hand x 20 meters
40 ph x 40,40,40,40m

Calf raises
60 x 10
100 x 10
140 x 12,12,12

Left it there for now, going to get in some arm accessory work later today.

20 x 15
30 x 8
40 x 8
50 x 8
55 x 8
57.5 x 6,6

Pullups
BW x 10
BW+10 x 10
BW+15 x 10
BW x 13

Low incline bench
40 x 10
60 x 10
80 x 10
90 x 7
100 x 3

Hammer curls (cheating)
10's x 10
20's x 10
30's x 20

Preacher curls
20 x 12
25 x 10

20 x 15 / 30 x 15
20 x 15 / 35 x 12

Good session, getting back to the strongest I've ever been and I feel like I'm still steadily gaining week on week.

Deadlift (belt & straps, touch & go reps)
20 x 15 RDLs
60 x 8
100 x 8
120 x 8
140 x 8
160 x 8
180 x 1
Trying out a new technique (rolling the bar similar to Benni or Chris Hickson), and it felt amazing. Had recurring low back issues for the past year due to (I think) yanking the bar slightly off the ground. This feels much safer and natural, I think I'll finally be able to work back up heavier now (was good for around 220 last Christmas or so).

Pause bench
20 x 15
40 x 8
60 x 8
80 x 8
90 x 8
95 x 8 - PB for paused?

DB rows (in lbs)
40's x 10
80's x 10
110's x 13
The gym goes up to 85kg dumbbells Eek I'll be wanting to row them before long.

Incline bench (highish incline)
40 x 10
60 x 20
70 x 9
80 x 4

Hammer strength chest supported row
25 x 15
35 x 15
45 x 13,12,12

Facepulls
1x15, 3x12

Finished off with 3 sets of lying leg curls superset with 3 sets of seated calf raises. Good session.

donnie said:he pulls first rep very slow
430 max for him judjung by the speed of first rep

Bearing in mind that this was raw I'd say he might be good for around 450 in a suit (if he got one that fit him right).

slimsim said:I know it's fairly pricey to get a suit made but I'd thoroughly recommend it. A well made suit will last 10+ years and will far you far better than an off the peg one, even one which has been adjusted, plus you'll feel like a proper pimp knowing it's one of a kind

But what if you make all kinds of gains and a year or two down the road it doesn't fit you any more?

I'm looking to sell my Taishan bumper set (2x25kg, 2x20kg, 2x15kg & 2x15kg). I've had them roughly 18 months, but I've only really done powerlifting training so they're in good nick (never been dropped from overhead etc). As they are an expensive set, I'm looking for £350 (or best offer).

I'm in leeds, local pickup required.

EDIT : SOLD
