I had a Nutella sandwich with a chocolate digestive in it. It was quite good.

Funky I reckon life in the sun and living your dream is also doing you good and probably giving your training a boost.

It’s looking pretty good right now anyway.
» The biggest bullshit in strength :- either equipment, diet or advice ? (Go to post)08-02-2018 @ 09:51
I would say supplements in general are the biggest bulls**t in strength sport. They are marketed like magic beans.

Do lifts with straps count in the Sugden totals table?

I went from 100KG to 74KG over 6 months. I did lose a lot of my (already limited) strength, but I was somewhat happy with my appearance at the end.

Very low fat, high protein and no sugar or processed carbs was what I followed. Extremely strict on the diet front (drank nothing but water), but did no cardio.

I have been basically off squatting for about the same time as you. Just getting back into it now. Depth was definitely very good on that 160. Looks like you might even have 180 there already.

Funky these are some incredible beginners gains type progress that you have made in the last month or so. Looks like you’v gone from being untrained to a 500+ total and probably a 125-130 bench in what, less than 2 months? Old ground I know, but still good going.

tbh 1 million is a lot of hard day work...more than i could save in a lifetime so a little pain would be worth it

the real Q given that we slave ourselves by the hour would be what would you do for 1 million? cut your todeger off for example??? me - id give up a limb, you choose.

Jesus. This got pretty dark pretty quickly. I would probably give something up for life (maybe alcohol or junk food) but not a limb.

If only a standard size rotisserie chicken (fairly small), I would say two - possibly three though if I was in good eating form and had a decent hunger.

I was also immediately struck by his traps. I don’t think I’ve ever seen traps like that before, even on a bodybuilder. The bits that sit on top of the shoulders, yes, but I didn’t realise that the huge lumps he had halfway down his back were also part of the traps.

What’s the rule on most strongman competitions re. Viking Press and whether you can put it down?

Does anyone else think that the new era of super heavy athletes and super heavy events is a bit extreme? Seeing multiple competitors needing oxygen after events, crashing out at the end of events (eg. Loz and a few others on squat) ... and Thor’s half-paralysed face (a mini stroke?) made me feel that organisers had gone a bit too far in creating a spectacle of extreme strength just to entertain the viewers. I actually think some people will have been turned off by it. I even found myself wincing a few times during the squat.

Otherwise fantastic coverage. Great to see some coverage of the history of the sport too.

Maybe 2018 is the right time for another evolution in strongman?

Most improved lifter: Tom is an obvious suggestion. Wiegieboard also.
