Like the videos of the snatches, for someone like me (ie completely s**t at them) it's good to watch someone able to get under the bar quickly!

Thursday 4 December 2014 Olympic Lifting Class Front Squat (heavy singles) 5 x 60kg 5 x 100kg 5 x 120kg 1 x 140kg 2 x 1 x 160kg I've never gone 'heavy' on a front squat before, usually only do relatively low weight for reps after deadlifts. Feel I had another 10kg in me at least, so a 200kg front squat is an unwritten goal for the next few months. High Hang Snatch 5 x 1 x bar 5 x 1 x 40kg 5 x 1 x 60kg Full Snatch 1 x 57.5kg 3 x f x 57.5kg! Technique! Seem to be able to high hang snatch with no pull than I can a full one. Seems to be a mind thing, I can muscle up 60kg so on a full snatch I end up catching it 6inches lower that standing up. Need to work on it. Clean & Jerk 5 x 1 x 60kg 5 x 1 x 80kg 3 x 1 x 100kg 3 x 1 x 100kg clean & push press. Bit tired, wrists hurt, home!

30 November 2013 Deadlifts - Straps 226kg x 3 226kg x 3 226kg x 3 226kg x 3 226kg x 3 Hard work... Front Squats: 120kg x 5 120kg x 5 120kg x 3 - Couldn't get my breath! 120kg x 3 120kg x 1 Log: 67.5kg x 1 87.5kg x 1 x 3 107.5kg x 1 x 5 110kg x 1 x 3 For the first time, I felt as though There is an element of strength coming back. Still lacking the "strength fitness", and the deadlifts were hard work. Have a 6 month goal of a 300kg deadlift, 225kg olympic squat and 150kg C&J - We'll wait and see, they feel like a long long way away! Aim is to compete in a couple of strongman comps next year, maybe a very low standard olympic weightlifting comp too.

27 November 2014 Coached Olympic Lifting If anything, the break has done me good (in terms of flexibility), so a overhead squat no longer poses any issues. Went right back to basics, as my previous form was awful. So was very reliant on the coach to help me out. Hip Snatch Bar x 1 x 3 30kg x 1 x 3 40kg x 1 x 3 Hang Snatch 40kg x 1 x 5 45kg x 1 x 5 Full Snatch 45kg x 1 x 3 50kg x 1 x 3 55kg x 1 x 3 57.5kg x 1 x 2 First time I've ever performed a full snatch, my wrists were saying no! Cleans: 60kg x 1 x 5 80kg x 1 x 5 100kg x 1 x 3 C&J (first time trying split jerk) 100kg x 1 x 3 - Not splitting enough 105kg x 1 x 2 - Still not splitting enough - out of time! Olympic Back Squat for 1RM: 105kg x 5 140kg x 3 160kg x 3 180kg x 1 190kg x 1 All relatively easy, seem to be getting the groove back on this one. Had a really fun session, will do it more often.

Just a little update. Managed to partially tear my hip flexor at the beginning of June and haven't been back to the gym since then. I've also still got shoulder pain if I jolt my arm (like if you drop something and try and catch it before it hits the floor). Back of the shoulder joint - any ideas? Back in the gym starting Saturday morning.

Training Thursday 02/05/2014 5/3/1 - Squats Week 2 Didn't fancy it today 75kg x 5 90kg x 5 110kg x 3 130kg x 3 150kg x 3 "flat out" set: 170kg x 6 - Not happy with this at all, my lower back was pumped so I can only assume that form went to s**t, or I'm still not over deadlift / cleans. 110kg x 10 110kg x 10 110kg x 10 110kg x 10 110kg x 10 Harder than they should have been. Decided at this point to give farmers walk a go over a 15m course. I've never even touched the farmers walk implements before, so just felt it as I went. Does anyone have any idea what the weight of a standard farmers handle is? All weights listed are the weight added, no idea of the weight of the handles: 60kg x 2 80kg x 2 90kg x 2 100kg x 4 80kg x 2 Completely different feel to what I was expecting, once I got the wobbles out of the way they felt OK. I'll try again on a day which hasn't completely screwed my legs beforehand and see what happens! Will
