Thanks for that - nothing like constructive advice.

Ha ha ha - who updated my status to started the strongman war?
» U90kgs (Go to post)05-05-2009 @ 21:02
I would be happy just competing with no spectators - i broke my PB on deadlifts by 20kgs yesterday.
I was one of only 6 people (who i didnt know) in the gym so didnt have anyone to share my achivement with but that didnt stop me leaving the gym with a huge sense of acomplishment.

Personally i think that competing and proving to yourself if no-one else that you can lift heavy is all that matters.

Well this wasnt how i expected the thread to turn out - thought i was asking a simple question. Didnt want to start an all out strongman war.

At the end of the day the people who dont agree with U90kgs comps are entitled to their opinions but i would imagine they wont be there competing or supporting so at least it gives people a chance to get experience of a comp before making the jump into U105kgs.

Wish i had never bothered asking.

If it wasnt for the likes of U90kgs then i would probably never even think about training for strongman.

My plan is to enter U90kgs then work my way up to U105kgs and then who knows?

I think weight classes are great and by no means takes the edge of winning or competing in higher classes.

(6x) Scrambled Eggs
(1x) Extra Large Bowl Of Porridge Oats with Golden Syrup
(1x) Wholemeal Bread Barmcake
(1x) Large Banana

Then waited an hour for it all to digest and headed to the gym to get to work.Grin

I asked the question to find out if there were anymore comps coming up - not you (Titch) to start being a t**t.

Do you think that Tyson was born a heavyweight boxer? No

Do you think that Mark Felix was born a WSN Finalist? No

Do i think you were born a cock? Yes

If i were to just turn up for a WSM qualifier at 81kgs with a 1RM of 180kgs on deadlift then you would probably think that was ridiculous too.

If you dont know about any comps then dont bother posting. You seem to think that your the expert strongman so maybe you could start a different thread along the following lines:

"How to wake up a WSM competitor after 8 hours sleep & a protein shake."

Does anyone know of anymore U90kgs strongman comps this year other than the midlands one in 2 weeks?

Was planning on competing next year but if there was one at the end of this year then i may have a go.

As above, managed 1x160kgs a few weeks ago but failed at 165kgs due to lack of grip.

So i bought some chalk, had a huge breakfast and after some warm sets and working my way up to 160kgs i then managed to pull 1x170kgs and then 1x180kgs.

Just thought i would share that with everyone because i am well chuffed.Happy

Whats this mackenzies stuff you use?

The powder should be here the next couple of days so i may give it a try but think given that the blocks are so cheap i may just order one anyway.
