Scaffold pole is ever so slightly thinner than axle though .. i felt the differance in the last comp and it cost me a couple of reps but i`ve got girls hands s**t for axle deadlift great for a wank...

Im the opposite. big hands which are fine for the axle but not so flattering when it comes to wanking

I got the uni gym to buy me an Ironmind one for 260 from Pullums! Grin

A scaffy pole is fine though, Ive had 280kg on my ironmind one and no bend at all.

280kg sounds good to me! cheers mate

we use a scaffold pole at olympic mate, not sure wots the most weight been on it so far but over 220kg on a regular basis. no bend wot so ever.

Thats good to know mate as im hoping to pile on the weights eventually.

Do you just put some collars on the bar to stop the weights sliding into
the centre of the bar or does it need some sort of welding?

greetings everyone.

Im considering spending 120 on an axle bar but heard you can make one from
scaffold. Is this alright/strong enough?

dont want my experiments resulting in decapitaiton/snapped neck etc!

Any info would be great to help develop my mini-strongman area the missus has so kindly donated to me. LOL

cheers

he is truely awesome

he has been working his grip hard, sources have said, including 100kg pinch grips and 200kg axle holds for 20 seconds plus!!!

I train at the gym where he trains mate and his grip training needs to
be seen. truly awesome.

always good to watch his board pressing aswell!

Great to see some more pics. Forgot to mention that the Lancaster Guardian put a big pic of Robbo on the back page with the farmers, fortunately for the man himself it was as he prepared to set off rather than when he took a tumble.Wink

LOL! Thank god it was at the start of the farmers!!

Although the army roll near the end would have made a much better pic!

Thats probably the most impressive lifting at 105 ive seen.

275kg deadlift for 11 reps is phenomenal

Terry H is a favorite overhere,

Dont tell Shawn LOL

If I was to pick my favourite American strongmen would have to be Kevin Nee and Big Dereck - just cause he's an absolute beast, huge static strenght and athletic!!

The only american i think who has his head up his own arse, and makes me cringe when he opens his mouth is big dereck but he can get away with it as he is probably the best there is out there at the present time and will no doubt win WSM this year

» squat and deads on same day (Go to post)24-03-2009 @ 17:39
When squats and deads are done on the same day,is it always best to squat first then deadlift?

Read that some people do heavy squats then light speed deads one week then swap it round the next with the haevy deads coming first.

Just wondered if it was best to do that or just balls to the wall every week on both?!

the BSM (North) qualifier is the week before and UKSC (North) the week after

It may effect your numbers of applicants, but who knows LOL

I would def consider doing that date

Not sure whether to do the novice or open mate? whats your opinion after the performance on sunday?

Dont think im ready for the heavier comp but dont want it to be frowned upon if i do a novice after already doing a comp even though i didnt do very well?!

Robbo mate, I would do the open if I were you. Your OH may be your weakness, but your DL/farmers/stones ability is way above novice standard IMO

Ok cheers mate.just didnt want to get gravel f**ked but guees thats what its all about.got a log ordered so no excuses on the overhead and thank f**k there is no yoke!!LOL
