The 5 Brtis were always going, they would of had to diasbled themselves for them not to go.

Looks like 6 American's will be going.

4 have qualified through giants live - Poundstone, Best, Burke and Pritchett. Then Shaw and Jenkins will get an invite regardless.

Loz is in some fine form...won the log(with some good loggers) and won the deadlift with a Brit record. He's always been going at moving events. Looks very good for him going into WSM.

Also Felix actually seems to be in the form of his life this year. He has been impressive in every comp.

Maybe not an all British top 5 then as predicted by many

Ed Hall seems like statically he will be very strong as per usual. Once again will be interesting to see what he pulls on the deadlift. 410kg would be great to see. I can actually see him getting an Arnold invite the way he is going.

From his facebook, I missed the earlier part of his post off, worth reading though.

''On another note f**king awesome training session at strength asylum tonight! Never felt such anger and aggression during training!
Nailed out a RAW 340kg squat for x4 very deep easy reps and was good for a few more but I got so f**king angry I had to put it back before I bust a knee cap off trying for 10 reps!
Then went on to do a 260kg bench press for a double and then a 240kg incline bench for a double. Then 60kg dumbells for 3x20 reps to cool down

Deadlifts and shoulders tomorrow' going try out some new 82.5kg dumbells for hopefully 10+ reps on shoulders!''

Agree. That's why I think Terry will win the deadlift and he will be joint 2nd with Felix and Loz.

A nice 900lb deadlift from Pritchett in June

he stuggled with the 145kg log in LA , i cant personally see top 5 in that his yoke aint to rapid either and remember he didnt even pick up the shield a couple of years back . Hes very fit tho for the loading and his dealift will be awesome

I thought he got a couple of reps on the 170kgish log at the Arnold's so would be ok for some decent reps on a 150kg one. I think he will be around 5th on this.

Yoke he beat Felix at south american Arnold's....I don't think he is a threat for top places in these events but will be solid in them. Shield tbh I don't have a clue, but he is tall and assume would have some sort of farm boy strength so top 3. Deadlift I think he will be joint 2nd with Loz and Felix with Terry taking the win.

As I said I think he will just be very consistent across the board, with decent points on deadlift and shield.

Oberst pressing isn't in question...it is everything else. He seems to make a few mistakes on medleys and his deadlift wasn't great either. All depends on how much he has improved.

Pritchett is definitely the threat, seems like good events for him and he is on good form. I think Pritchett will take good points on deadlift and shield carry and top 5 in everything else.

Amazing lifts.

Are the powercleans and cleans starting after your powerlifting comp? Must be potential PBs in those.

I dont really think we need to get into semantics over speed vs speed endurance. Butch Reynolds was slower over 400m, and he was slower over 200m. We can argue all day about what constitutes speed endurance and speed, but the simple fact is, Johnson was faster over both distances. Who has the better speed endurance? Ie who waa able to run 400m the fastest? We both know the answer to that. You can start fast or finish fast, but over the distance, the only thing that counts is your time.
Look, I'm not doubting that Bolt is an out and out freak, that would be ridiculous. I am arguing that we cant just extrapolate his freakiness out to other events and suggest that he would be better than others, who have quite simply never been close to being touched. (Unless Warriner ran times that I am not aware of). Of course Johnson is in awe of Bolt, who on the planet who has seen him isn't?
Where do you draw the line? Do you think it's a given that he would smash the long jump world record if he wanted to as well? After all Carl Lewis did it, and Bolt runs faster than Lewis so it must be a given, right? Jumping isn't some genetic gift, it's just trained for, right?

So MJ 200 = 19.3 ...400 = 43.18

Butch 200= 20.3ish ...400 = 43.29

Wariner 200=20.19...400 - 43.45

MJ clearly has superior speed endurance and not just superior speed according to you.

It is generally seen that if Bolt was going to pick another event it would be long jump and not the 400, he has said so himself. Sprinting and long jumping goes very much hand in hand. Bolt being 6ft 6 would be an advantage in long jumping if he could capitalise on it, his landing would be the most important part.

I think we'll just have to disagree. Johnson was an out and out freak. I believe that if he had been genuinely pushed during his peak, the 400m WR would be lower than it currently is and he would have run more 'quick' times. He is a bit like Bolt in the sense that he had won his races with 50m to go. He set many times in the high 43s that would have been quicker if pushed. (I realise the same can be said of Bolt's victories).
Focusing on Johnson's 200m times is an obvious way of finding Bolt to be better than Johnson, he simply is, but we are talking about the 400m. Johnson's freak ability was in holding his speed, something no one has ever done better, in history. We are only speculating that Bolt could do that. We don't know. Is it possible? Of course it is, but to suggest that he is better at it than the best that has ever lived is a bit of jump for me.

That's just not true. Look at the other 43 second 400 guys Wariner and Butch Reynoulds and their 200 times are like a second down. Now their 400 times are about 0.2-0.4 off showing they had better speed endurance. Speed ensurance isn't some magical genetic gift, you just train for it. The training is just horrible lactic acid training.

Bolt won't do it for 2 reasons...the training is horrible and 100m's is still by far the most popular event at the olympics and on the circuit and he gets £250,000 every race(maybe dollars).

While MJ was amazing, Bolt is just the one! MJ knows this, on the documentary that MJ did he is just in awe of Bolt's talent.

I wasnt as convinced by this when Bolt first said it, and I have yet to be convinced otherwise.
Whilst Bolt is clearly faster over 200m, Johnson had an amazing ability to hold his speed through the last 200m that has never been seen before or since. Bolt is a complete freak, but to suggest that Johnson wasn't is a tad disingenuous. He dominated the 200/400m in the exact way that Bolt now does the 100/200.
In just the same way, it is by no means a given that the best 100m runner will also be the best 200m runner. It just happens that Bolt is.

MJ was at the top of his sport for a decade...ran loads of 200m races, yet his two fastest times were on his home country track about a month or two apart. Apart from that he always ran 19.8's. Bolt drops 19.3 and below on any track on different years.

Bolt is much more talented than MJ, MJ has a better work ethic. Bolt doesn't even need a better work ethic because he has already gone down as the greatest sprinter. 9.58 isn't touched by any record and he's not even trying. I think Bolt also ran 45.3 for the 400 when he was like 16.

I think Bolt would win if they did it in say March, if they do it after world champs it is 50/50.

Farah won't be much faster than 50 secs for 400m's.

Bolt could cruise 51 secs and have plenty in the tank to finish the last 200m's.

Bolt could beat MJ's 400 WR as well if he had the will to do so, he is by far the best sprinter.
