» Big Z's looking mortal... (Go to post)16-08-2014 @ 16:04
The same reason he has been invited in the past...he is the best deadlifter on the planet.

Plus Terry Todd has always said he doesn't just invite strongmen...he likes to have a weightlifter and a powerlifter as well. Kokyleav usually fills the slot of weightlifter, Benni will probably fill the slot of powerlifter.

Good news

''I am training for next seasson . ASM and WSM''

I hope Eddie and Bennie do the Arnold's. Can't see Ed not being invited, then whether Bennie gets invited or wants to do it.

I personally find it really funny watching your friend quaking in pain(srs). The video epitomises the 'iron brotherhood'.

I think Radz has done a 410kg deadlift on his facebook as well, hard to tell with translation.

''I am in best shape at 165kg. Light trainings only ,but still log lift 200kg . 2015 will be good ''

Nice to see him looking really healthy, but still having his eye on the season ahead.

I think Shaw is the safe bet to win it. Pulled 447kg last year, pulled a massive amount at the Arnold's and hasn't been injured. I think Benni would be my pick if he hadn't picked up the injury in Australia and then hurt his hand. He is still the most talented deadlifter and could do something special.

So I personally think it is between those two, but Shaw to take it.

Thor could pull a big number as well, looks to be in great form with comp wins recently. He Pulled 430-435kg in Australia so we could be looking at 440-450kg from him.

Does anyone know if that Glen Ross comp that was happening in Wales is still going ahead? It had like 3 OH events.

On a more serious note, that new Polish guy looks like he is going to be seriously good in the near future.

Great log lift and great interview.

He will do Europe's, he just won't do so many SCL.
» Interview with Brian Shaw (Go to post)23-04-2014 @ 09:28
I didn't think it was that bad. You guys call the like Magnus Samuelson and Sven Karlsen legends despite only one WSM title, Shaw has 2 and will get more.

This interview was clearly just after the Arnold's so was correct about the only guy winning both at that point.

He never goes into detail why he doesn't like Z, but it is easy for us to see Z as humble when he can barely speak English...you may see him differently if you knew Lithuanian. Also with the count back thing he needs to forget that and accept his mistake on the loading is what cost him.

I know!
His upper body is huge but no more so than able bodied bench specialists like ursus. Plus, there's no leg drive. Phenomenal.

I would say his upper body is HUGE. If you look at the vid at 1:05 with his head to the side and compare it to the other blokes it is about 3x as big, he has a monster bone structure. His fingers are like sausages as well.

So what is the exact format?

Benni and Shaw doing the full contest with Shaw lifting as a guest, then Bolton comes in just to compete in the deadlift part...? All 4 of them seem to be very strong at the moment so should be some monster lifts.
» Openly gay strongmen/strength athletes? (Go to post)06-04-2014 @ 02:05
I actually read before that a WSM winner was gay, the person never said which one and I never found out. He was a kind of in the know poster as well.

» Worlds strongest man (Go to post)30-03-2014 @ 15:18
Shaw is in great shape. At Arnold's he 2 repped the 200kg log, 1128lbs deadlift and 10 reps on squats at WSM..so statically he is a monster. He won truck pull which was heavy, the loading was running around with a tyre on their arm, not a great test of strength. If they put the stones to a decent weight he would win those as well.

All in all Z has proved himself to being the best strongman this year, come next year if Arnold's brings back stones and WSM brings back farmers and yoke(both likely) I think Shaw will dominate.
