11th April 2013

Had to do this session quickly today.

squat:
Bar x 8
40 x 8
60 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 8 x 3 sets.

That's the last of my technique work done and everything looks good now. Depth looked shallow from front in mirror but was ok from the side.
Next week I will start 3 sets of 5 linear progression on 100kg

paused bench:
Bar x 5
40 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
90 x 3 x 3 sets harder than it should have been.

chin-ups:
3 x 6 @ bw

I just did 8 reps on my CoC #2. I'm starting to think I could close the #3 eventually

9th April 2013

Todays gym stories: Someone tried to pull my 187 deadlift without warmups, failed, and went back to doing their shallow knee bends in the smith machine.
Another person made the error of unloading one side of the bar in the rack fully, leaving the other end to crash to the floor, inches away from my phone. I advised him that it's good practice to only leave 20kg difference on the bar (although 25-30kg is usually fine). Would have got my ginger rage on him if he'd smashed my phone with that.

Deadlift:
70 x lots. This is usually my most enjoyable set because it's the easiest
110 x 5
140 x 5
165 x 3 doh beltless. Grip is strong today.
187.5 x 3 belted, mixed grip. Good!

the 187.5's were so fast at lockout they looked like 70. Wish i'd filmed it.

Going to just follow linear progression with 2.5kg until I stall for 2 weeks & cant do 3 reps anymore, then follow 531 again and regain the gains.

Strict Press:
following 531 again
bar x 8
40 x 5
50 x 5
57.5 x 5
65 x 5 not easy

an enjoyable session overall.

Try stuff out and see what works! I've put around 5kg on my bench just from moving my grip in Roll-Eyes
Don't do anything too dramatic with the diet and you might be able to retain some strength Happy

"I'm not going to do smolov jr" Roll-Eyes

What max did you put in for it? Will be interesting to follow as I might try it as a peaking program

I think the IPF are looking for IOC (Olympic sports) recognition, but that doesnt mean Powerlifting will be in the Olympic Games. They have been trying for a number of years

6x105 paused is nice, should've gone for it!

I attempted to hold the plate between my feet, it kept slipping down. I initially picked up some chains thinking they'd be light, but I think they were like 20kg Roll-Eyes

Usually I have my hoodie and loop it round myself and the plate and tie it at the waist.

Yeah mate dont know why I didnt, would have been a rep pb Roll-Eyes

7th April 2013

Today I practiced my new squat stance (not so new anymore) and got my head around squatting 80kg without pain - did 3 sets of lots of reps which were all fine. So the mental block is now gone, and I think I am set in my technique now. Depth is fine, filmed a few sets to be sure.
I also feel very powerful in this technique and when I start linear progression next week I think I'm in for some nice pb's down the line Happy

Squat:
bar x lots, filmed knee tracking - fine.
bar x lots, filmed depth - fine.
40 x lots
60 x lots
80 x lots x 3 sets, no knee pain and just a little out of breath.

(by lots I mean like 10 or 8 or something but I cant remember because it's not worth counting reps at this weight)

Paused bench:
bar x lots
40 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 5
92.5 x 5
105 x 5
simple enough. Last rep of 105 slowed a bit, but 6 is there for sure. Dont know why I didnt go for it to be honest. Confused

Pullups:
bw x 3
attempted to add weight. failed.
2.5kg x 5 struggle
bw x 5 (just)
chinups x 4, out of strength.
