That Fox bird did rather well too...whoop whoop!
» One for MattGriff to criticise my 415kg deadlift from tonight (Go to post)14-08-2009 @ 15:58
Nothing wrong with a shocking technique if you get the weight up (and manage not to break your body in the process).

I favour the stiff leg all-back style too, though I know I'll never be getting anywhere near the 415kg....awesome!

Pah! Linda Hamilton was my total heroine for quite some time (as was Trinity from the Matrix). The new Terminator woman is nothing to aspire to.

As for Terminator Salvation (and a die hard fan) I wasn't really that impressed sadly.

Martin
Isostar protein powder - I can only get it when I go abroad. It's probably not cheap in comparison to others but would possibly appeal to sports people who recognise the brand already and it'd be a niche if you're the only UK stockist.

Agree HealthyDirect for vitamins and Pharmacy2U is good for some deals on certain 'sports supplements'.

As for clothing; I found it quite hideous finding smaller stuff when I started out so although in a customer minority you could get a corner of the market there too potentially.

I prefer it nice and hot since I don't function in the cold particularly well. But that'll be because I'm female.

and....you have to give a nod to the clever song writers for the otherwise vacuous Britney Spears lyrics which encourage jail-bait girls to go around singing that 'all of the girls and all of the boys are begging to if you seek Amy'.

Utterly deplorable, all of it. Next thing we know there'll be talent shows to showcase these type of people....
Strangely ironic that so-called 'DJ Talent' from such a TV offering was supposedly stereo-typical of the Yoof of today: when really he was accurately representative of a good percentage of them.
Nuff said innit.

» Complaining (Go to post)21-05-2009 @ 21:25
Only when really provoked.I did once throw huffy when a sales girl in shop ignored me for ages at the till whilst she chatted to her friend. I blurted out 'could you actually be any ruder?, put my goods on the counter and stormed off feeling rather embarrassed by my own behaviour...and the fact that I hadn't then bought what I actually wanted and my pride wouldn't let me go back to get it.

I always thought and agree with one of the other earlier comments that Sumo recruits way more of the legs; so if you derive your strength from them then use that technique. If you've got a comparatively stronger lower back then conv works better...though at full pelt 1RM it looks nowhere near as elegant (or maybe that's just me..all back and no legs).
» A vid from a young lifter made for his media course (Go to post)21-05-2009 @ 19:29
A young lad from my gym made that add and directed it ,he came first in a comp with it on his course,I think it`s class so wanted to get a few more views for him. thanks for your coment I will pass it on.

p.s just had a look at your site, well done

Cheers! Yes I think the Ad is good and although I am a self confessed avid shopper, I am pretty cynical about most of todays advertising so I hope he does well in his studies in that area.
» New to this - bit of help please. (Go to post)21-05-2009 @ 19:23
Pompy - there's plenty of lifters who train at the University gym in Bradford; 40 miles away from Doncaster I'm guessing (including Gezza Pilling who got me into it!),plus I know Sean Cole (Navy guy) lives and trains down in Portsmouth whom I could put you in touch with too.

With so many new PL friends you'll have no excuse not to compete...else we'll all hunt you down and confiscate your nonsensey brown body paint forever....
» Euro Drug Free Champs (Go to post)21-05-2009 @ 19:13
I guess everyone likes the thought of winning even if there wasn't the competition you'd have wanted like at some other events. I must admit despite my reasons for not going it didn't stop me from looking at the results and thinking that I probably would have won best overall DL.

Ref eh? Be a love and give me some of those nice white lights in Bradford and MK later this year then....be your best friend....

Front squats it is then.....I tried them earlier this week, they felt erm, different to say the least but will keep trying with them till I can manage something more than the puny weight I initially mustered.
