No offence meant to you pint but I agree, you can never be a true 'natural' competitor if you have previously used gear. But that's only my opinion for what it's worth.

No offence taken. I was being deliberately provocative. I am a lifelong natural and competed as such but dont bother with it anymore because its generally horse-s**t in my opinion.

Loads of juiced up guys go clean for a few months and compete. Its impossible to test accurately and, despite the "good faith" Ben has mentioned above, I just dont have that much faith in people.

Just my way of sticking my oar in to say what I think. I still train with several of the best "real" natural strongmen I have had the pleasure to meet but it pains me to watch them losing in competitions to people who are lying, cheating and glory hunting.

Best of luck to everyone though!!

» CHASE CHARITY CHALLENGE 2012 - Male and FEMALE comp!! Summer 2012 (Go to post)28-12-2011 @ 13:16
The Fourth Annual CHASE CHARITY CHALLENGE for Shooting Star CHASE childrens hospice is traditionally announced on the first of January....

but here's a little reminder of all last years fun!!

This year we will be having two male categories and a female catagory for the first time!!!!

As always it will be 5 events, held on a weekend in summer in Guildford (usually May or June)

As always its a minimum sponsorship of £100 payable on the day and every penny goes directly to the charity. As always, you will be doing something amazing by doing something you love and helping children and families who need and deserve your help. As always, some of these amazing kids will be there watching and shouting you on. As always, too many of those kids who were there last year will NOT be there this year........!

Are you strong enough to do something incredible??

Details to follow on 1st of Jan.....Grin Grin

Never a truer word said Mr Brownbear!!

After ages off, I called a strongman pal and explained the situation. The elbow is not right, but is better for the long rest, the back also feels easier.
Anyway, I was encouraged along to events training (theres a gentle return!!Grin ) at Muscle Inc yesterday.

When I got there, the guys suggested deadlifts and stones....!

In for a penny and all that, I agreed and had a right result.

Did normal oly deadlifts as follows
60x10
100x6
140x4
180x4 (flew up!! Couldnt believe it)
220xf (no surprise as this would have equalled my pb of all time!!!) did get it off the floor though
200x2 (cant tell you how amazed I was to pull these, quite easily!!)
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

So, then we moved to axle deads (18") outside (freezing!!Eek )
105x5
155x3
205x1
205x1

Stones
90kgx5 onto top platform (not sure of height but must be about 6foot)
then processions of stones as follows
90kgx1
105kgx1
120kgx1
130x1
Did this run three times

Feel like battered s**t this morningTongue Wink but feel great. Cant believe how little strength I have lost. Feels good to ache like this. If the injuries stay away, I have my eyes on the CHASE CHARITY CHALLENGE 2012 for the summer!!

Intermediates for me this year so I will have to be the strongest i have ever been.

Some goals
250 deadlift (currently 200-210ish)
220 squat (currently 160 i would think, previous best is 180)
135 push press
160 bench ( I know benching is gay).

No training for ages now. My elbow has not recovered at all, my back is also shot.

Could this be the end for me? Confused

Will see the doctor about the elbow, but cant see that heavy training is going to happen again. Plus, with bad back which just keeps coming back every time i pick anything off the floor (last time did sets of DL's for 10's with 80kg and couldnt stand up straight for a week!!) just beginning to think I might have reached the end of my lifting career....!

Cant afford physios, chiropractors etc and some gear to help me recover is not an option as I am a natural...!

Unhappy Angry Unhappy

Hopefully, next post will be some improvement as there are some brilliant comps coming up and I would love to crack some Inter's comps next year!!

Cheers Jack, no technique, all brute force and ignorance!!LOL!

Anyway, nothing good to add. This ridiculous elbow pain/tennis elbow or whatever it is has completely crippled me, cant even pick up my bag without it killing me, have even started keeping it bent because it aches all the time....!

Cant clean at all, struggling to press oh. Well, looks like its squats and deadlifts every day.....!

» Any Strongmen recently been to New York? (Go to post)10-09-2011 @ 21:51
I went to new york a couple of weeks ago. In the airport at NYC (JFK) there was a guy with a strongman gym t-shirt on that I recognised but cant recall....his girlfriend/wife/partner had a Sheffield Wednesday tat, so I am guessing they are from yorkshire...?

Just thought how strange it would have been to have two people from our sport on the same flight to the same place (and weirdly, both our partners being Wednesday supporters...!!).

Confused
