Last night, 98kg BW

Snatch
70 for 3 doubles and a single

Clean pull - hang clean - jerk
Singles on 80, 85, 90, 92, then final one on 95.
Cleans felt great and locked in, jerk was a bit more wobbly than expected.

Clean pulls
3 triples on 110

Push press
Went up to 85, attempted 89 for a PB but not really close.

Abs
3 sets

Fairly happy with that, making progress on clean technique, hopefully it carries over to lifts from the floor. Will continue with hang cleans on one of my clean days, other day will try out clean-front squat(-jerk) complex as recommended by a mate from the gym. Had a brilliant sleep after this, so much so that I overslept for work and woke up at 10 lol. Honestly can't remember the last time I slept so much unbroken!

98kg BW again last night.

Snatch work up to 60kg. Pulls, powers, full etc. Used straps as my hands still have blisters on them from holiday.

Clean pull - hang clean - jerk complex up to 80kg. Feels much better from the hang, was told turnover looked a lot better. Will incorporate these in a bit more.

Squats up to a measly 110 for a couple of triples unbelted.
» One of the most enjoyable but scary articles I've ever read (Go to post)02-06-2015 @ 11:43
Thought I'd share this article on AI as I thought it was pretty mindblowing, especially if you've ever wondered what the chances are of a Terminator-type doomsday scenario.

Put aside an hour or so to read Part 1, Part 2 and the sidetrack article on the Fermi paradox. Definitely worth it.

Back off holiday on Sunday night. A ridiculously sleep-deprived and alcohol-fuelled 10 days, great trip though. Immune system feels pretty battered at the moment. Headed back to the gym last night just to get myself in there really. Lost 3.5kg.

Power snatches/pulls on 50

Power clean and jerks on 50

Front squat -> jerk complexes on 70/75

Rows on 60

Felt horrible as predicted. Had a great sleep after though. Back in gym tonight for some slightly heavier full movements hopefully.
» Ever struggled with a lack of motivation to compete ? (Go to post)01-06-2015 @ 17:55

'To strive against another or others to attain a goal, such as an advantage or victory' I go into competitions knowing that victory is not possible. Therefore, by this definition I am not competing.
1. 'to contend for athletic supremacy'. Attending a contest knowing that you will not place is NOT contending for Athletic supremacy because you know for sure that there will be more supreme athletes there how will beat you. Therefore by the dictionary definition anyone attending knowing they won't place is not competing.
2. 'to strive to outdo another for a prize'. The winners and placers get a prize. That being a trophy. Attending a contest knowing that you will not place means the is no possibility of a prize. Therefor by the dictionary definition anyone attending knowing they won't place is not competing.
So bored now....and I'm still not attending competitions because it's a waste of time and money FOR ME.

You don't know that for sure though. What if all the other competitors bomb out/get injured/break the rules, meaning you claim first place? That's definitely not outside the realms of possibility.

Last night, just over 101 BW.

C&J - used a belt today
90
100
104
108 - F clean
108 - F, jerk pressed out slightly
112 - F jerk
112 - F clean
112 - F clean

Back squats - belted
130
140
148
155
161 - F
161 - F

Rows
70x8
70x8
70x8

Bench
82.5x5
82.5x5
82.5x5

2 sets of curls

Man that was terrible. My clean is so s**t. I cleaned 112.5 about 9 months ago or something and have yet to clean more than that. The 1st attempt was relatively close I guess, collapsed horribly in the catch but stood up ok with it. Jerk was not close to lockout. Attempts 2 and 3 it just dropped off my shoulders as I went under the clean, was horrible.
Squats my legs were just a bit tired from the CJs I think as well as the work of the past week.
Away until the 1st of June now.

Snatch pulls

105x2
105x2
105x2

BTN push press
78
83
88
91 PB

Can't even remember the last time I got so many PBs in one session lol. Snatches were a very pleasant surprise, I didn't even think 91 would go given how bad snatches have been recently, but was secretly hoping for 93. So 95 was very out of the blue!
Front squats I just went for a token PB as I wanted to save my legs for C&Js on Wednesday.
Had a horrendous night's sleep after this session, always struggle to get to sleep and stay asleep when I max out.

Was helping out at the powerlifting comp today so snuck a quick session in at the end. 101kg BW

Did power snatch + full snatch complex, lots of reps at 65. Felt good for the most part.

Then power cleans + power jerks, singles up to a few reps on 85. Pull is definitely starting to feel better since I made the adjustment.

Then beltless clean deadlifts up to 160x3.

Didn't have my knee wraps but still felt comfortable snatching. Hopefully max out on snatch on monday if I'm feeling good.

I used to take the National Express Bus from London to Hull. It went, and presumably still does, through Sc**thorpe.
Few guys on here are from Scunny or train there as far as I know.

I prefer the megabus Wink although it's a bloody long journey if you continue on to Hull, no??? Like 5 hours!

I know that Valdas strongman guy trains in Scunny? My mate said he came into the gym the other week and just snatched 125 like nothing with barely any warmup haha.

101kg last night.

Snatches - worked up to 80 but missed it 3 times (1 behind, 2 forward). Dropped to 70, missed it twice. Then got it. Then did 75 twice, then missed 78 3 times (all forward). Terrible

Front squats up to a very hard single at 100.

Nothing in my legs at all last night, must be due to the heavy squats on Tuesday...

Light-ish session on Saturday then max out next week hopefully.

Last night, 101kg

Back squat - belted
110x5
120x5
125x5
130x5
135x5

GMs
60x8
60x8
60x8

Rows
70x8
70x8
70x8
better

Bench
80x5
80x5
80x5

Hypers
3 sets

Bit of rehab work

Squat was quite unexpected, especially as I felt like crap at the start of the session. Kept my shape well for them apparently. Was secretly hoping for 130x5 but wasn't sure if I'd get it. It was ok so was convinced to go for 135. Most I've squatted in over a year for sure, possibly even since my prep for the British championships in 2013! Bit of knee pain afterwards but nothing too bad.
