lowther said:Just going to agree with what Jay said, his lifts speak for themselves! You can spend hundreds of pounds a month on supplements and still get nowhere near the results of a solid diet. Whey protein is great for post workout and for convenience, and is pretty much all I use year round. Sure, things like cod liver oil, creatine etc are worth chucking in, but not at the expense of good food, and LOTS of food!

great advice again.Good food and plenty of it is the key and the right training of course. Thanks

In 531 2nd Edition he recommends that. I saw a recommendation from a while back from him where he said a good way of losing fat was to drink a protein shake before each meal on the basis you won't be able to eat as much, this is also in the book. As is the weight gain technique of following each meal up with a protein shake.
When he linked up with t-nation/Biotest he seemed to recommend loads of protein powder for a while but now seems to have gone back to the 'just eat chicken, steak and eggs' advice.

Thanks for making that clear, thought i missed something lol

from personal experience none of them are worth any money UNLESS you cant get enough thru real food .

Im doing 5/3/1 and Wendler says just stick to whole foods and dont bother with whey unless you dont have time. I know hes no diet expert, but if you eat enough meat and eggs, whey protein probably not that beneficial, unless your in a hurry to go somewhere, or not at home.

cheers big guy . Its to easy to get caught up on the hype of having to use everything to improve. Good food and hard training should be enough. Thanks for all your help lads

Does anyone here use creatine often? Do you see any difference in your training when using??
» Supplements (Go to post)14-01-2013 @ 12:26
Cheers for the advice guys. Suppose lots of food is the best way to improve. I try to eat every 2-3 hours and as clean as possible. Maybe up the calories a bit.

milsy said:do you compete in a tested fed?

if you do I wouldnt risk it on the fancy new supps out there chances are they contain somthing that will land you with a ban spend it on some good quility food, creatine, zma and a nice tasting protien powder

if you dont I havnt used them myslef for obvious reasons but there seems to be alot of good things said about supps like trizol and the new anabeta

Havent competed as of yet. looking to this year. I usually dont try anything fancy. I have tried creatine few times and to be honest i dont believe got a lot from it.

What supplements (legal) do you guys recomend taking for helping with your training. Currently im just taking whey and Glutamine. Have a bit of spare funds and dont want to invest it on stuff that dont do jack s**t. Happy

Welcome mate. Quite new to the site as well. Seems to be mostly a good group of lads on here and lots of quality lifters who knows their stuff. Ive certainly learned a lot from coming on to this forum and would like to thank all those for spreading their knowledge and showing videos of their training.
