Grip felt rock solid today. Could have walked further.

So why didn't you?

I knew this question would crop up!

Because I wanted to walk a set distance as fast as possible with a weight heavier than I've got to use in my next comp. Also, I want to keep my hands intact.

Make sense? Or is walking 20/25 metres with 140 per hand a gay way to prepare for walking 15 metres with 130 per hand?

It didn't look totally glued to the floor.

The 380 and 402.5 looked easy!! The 487.5 was slightly ambitious!! Is he trying to worry Andy Bolton?

Today's training...

POWER CLEANS (warm-up for farmer's walk)

70 x 2
70 x 2
100 x 2
110 x 2

FARMER'S WALK

120 per hand - pick-up only
140 per hand - approx 20/25 metres - comfortable
140 per hand - approx 20/25 metres - comfortable

Grip felt rock solid today. Could have walked further.

SQUATS (raw, deep)

60 x 4
100 x 2
140 x 2
180 x 8

CHINS (under-hand grip)

BW x 2
+21.25 x 2
+21.25 x 2
+21.25 x 2

I pause at the top for a couple of seconds on the last rep of each set.

Criticism welcomed.

Gay session?
Would tricep kick-backs have been a more productive use of time than farmer's?
Am I destined for mediocrity training in this manner?
Or, is this the training of a future champion?

What do you think?

Maybe we should be having this discussion in my journal rather than yours. I'm going to the gym shortly and will post my session up when I get back. I invite people to pick holes it.

It's not so much the fact that you train and clothe yourself the way you do, it's that you seem to think you're above taking advice from anyone who's already had a bit of success doing what you're trying to do.
You've had some good advice from Adam Keep too, but all but told him to shove it. You seem to be a strong enough bloke, but I just think you have a strange attitude, that's all. I can't understand why you (or anyone, for that matter) wouldn't want to improve your performance by simply paying a bit more attention to detail.

The way I train is resulting in progress. "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

I've never told Adam to "shove it". He's an amazing lifter and I have massive respect for him. I just disagreed that isolating individual muscles is necessary. Maybe I'll discover later in my strongman journey that I'm wrong and bicep curls are the way forward!

Actually, I've just remembered that I took my cheap trainers off for this lift.
