Post Edited: 21.03.2013 @ 14:51 PM by unit94 21.3.13Session 1 Shoulders Warmed up Strict press 20xalot 40x12 60x5 80 2x1 90x1 100 2x5 (5 rep PB) At this point my shoulder went abit dodgy, nothing too bad but it feels like it wants to crack Behind the neck jerk 60x3 80x1 100x1 120x1 120x1 Neither of the last two sets felt great so I left it there Foam rolled around my shoulder blade, hurt quite alot, stretched abit then went home

20.3.13 Session 1 Wank session, abit rushed and I was on my own so no hand offs on bench Bench press 20xalot 40x10 60 2x10 80x3 100 2x3 120x1 140x1 155x1 174xfail (didn't feel that heavy but wouldn't go) Close grip bench with chains (plate weight only) 60x5 80x5 100x3 120x1 failed second, 2nd rep hit the safety bars and knocked it off line 135xfail Flys 12.5's 4x20 It was only at this point when I finally felt warmed up, oh well training again tonight so that should be better

fong said: spose it saves time but is incredibly unfair for people lifting within small increments. It is better to watch as you see all the big lifts consecutively instead of dropping 25kg to see someone in last place, with oly lifting it's more applicable as you could recover more in a couple of minutes from a snatch or c+j than a deadlift.

JackRevans said: what is the rising bar rule? The weight on the bar never decreases so if your first attempt is 200 and your second is 202.5 then you might have to do the attempts straight after each other instead of everyone doing their first attempt and then everyone doing their second.

WILLSAN said:my opinion, strongman comps should be unpredictable, with only very few loose guidelines as to what makes an event. its what sets this sport apart from others. I agree with this

I think one overhead is enough, especially in a 5 event comp, IMO it's better to see a more unusual event like a keg toss or carry for distance instead of log deadlift yoke dumbbell stones every time.

JC said: It baffles me a little when a comp is at a gym (so no transportation of equipment or venue costs) why its £40 to compete? I'm sure there are reasons though It's in a gym!? I though it was in a bigger venue lol their gonna make a killing!

JC said: I dnt wnat to get in to a too light/heavy debate...just find those weights strange given the Giants Live will no doubt be heavy as f**k, thats all Yeah that arguments been done to death, it does seem light for the level of the comp it's qualifying for. Not being cynical or anything but do you think that they've made it light just to attract more people to compete and therefore make more money?

Not every comp has to be really heavy |
